The CP is another favorite and did not disappoint this morning. Two passes for an irritation free comfortable shave.

    Enjoy your day.

Same setup as usual but with Rockwell balm. Very very pleasing scent to my nose and does wonders on the skin also.
Today was a luxury shave I must say as I gave the Proraso cream the boiling hot water test and it surpassed my expectations by a mile . Used water from the Keurig again and a pea sized drop of cream . Very minimal agitation with the Omega boar with more of a mashing than swirling motion created a nice thick lather like I've never created before.
Did first pass then binned another blade . I'm suspecting I have grown accustomed to sharper steel now than back in my newbie days , especially with a mild razor. Funny how times change as I found this setup kicked a$$ compared to the bloody carts .
There was no breakdown from the heat today and lather held up for two passes easily. The feel when I applied it to my face took me away from this frozen land I'm in to some magical warm place I've only seen in travel brochures. Used many paintbrush strokes to apply this warm goodness and I had to stop myself from dreaming and get on with the shave. It was that good!
In summary, I rate the Proraso cream a 10 on the hot lather scale . Thisbwas the start I needed to this day as I am off to buy Birthday party supplies for my daughters 12th today. Man, kids grow up fast!

Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements PS - Tube 2.0
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements SS, ASB, AS/C - Doppelgänger Grey Label - Homage to Aventus
    BRM w/TGN 28mm Silvertip
    Rex Ambassador
    Gillette Silver Blue

For the watch aficionados....2011 Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph

Loaded the TGN 28mm Silvertip in the tub, and made an awesome slick & thick fragrant PAA CK-6 bowl lather with Jason's blue resin maple handle. Didn't use the scuttle's hot reservoir, just warm water to soak the brush, and a little extra H2O to hydrate the lather. Pre-loaded the Rex Ambassador last night with a blade that always seems to work well for me, a Gillette Silver Blue, Russian made. Started the first lather swiping pass with the RA set at 6, barely any pressure, using our 'ride the cap' technique. To describe the amount of pressure.....it's almost reverse pressure, I'm literally holding the weight of the razor head off the skin as I make a stroke, just trying to swipe away lather while skimming the skin surface. Second pass was much the same, although I changed the RA setting to 4. For the 3rd pass, I set the RA at 1, which results in a very narrow sweet spot & seems you'd be hard pressed to cut yourself, but still has plenty blade for weepers and irritation. The 3rd pass for me with a DE is only shaving the upper lip, chin and lower right neck....I was chasing the baby....caught and tagged the bad boy with the last leg of an XTG stroke. No weepers, no nicks, no cuts....including no issue on the small 'bite' from yesterday's Feather shavette outing. Finished off with the matching PAA Star Jelly and the Doppelgänger Grey Label AS/C. Super smooth, smelling nice.

PAA's Doppelgänger Grey Label - Homage to Aventus, I'll never do this complex blend complete justice with my description, so I'll just quote from their website. Top notes: Blackcurrant, Italian bergamot, French apples, Pineapple. Heart Notes: Rose, Dry birch, Moroccan jasmine, Patchouli. Base Notes: Musk, Oakmoss, Ambergris, Vanilla. I would add that this is a wifey, 'oh, yeah' response, and a top 5 choice of mine from all the fragrances I have from PAA so far. Excellent longevity, lasts 8-10 hours.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday!

Gorgeous looking shave, Jim. Out of curiosity, after your experiments with hot lathering so far, is it a viable option for frequent winter use, or not worth it? Been meaning to ask that to all of you hot-lather alchemists :D

Yes, I purchaded AV Blue Ice at the grocery store a couple weeks ago. They are similar. It's hard to explain but I do like the Williams AV better

Great shave (as always), Tom. So glad to someone using the Qshave. I bought a couple for my boys, and they like them well enough, but haven't really known very many other razors. I used it once just to get a feel for it when I showed my youngest-shaving son how to use it--I liked it; it was a fairly mild and smooth shaver. But that's my impressions from a single shave. Curious to know what are your thoughts are on the Qshave.

Thank you Guys. After "Bloody Monday" , the bar for the Rex is set pretty low. :D Now that Frozen Mojitos is done, I will be breaking out the A&E Bad Habits later this week.

    An interesting shave today.

I’m suffering from tendoniitis in my right hand so had no choice but to use my non-dominant (left) hand for the whole of the shave.

The P&B soap worked excellently with the Proraso I usually use to make a uber lather with (and I think I’ll try adding menthol crystals next time around, as the smell of mentholated Brut really appeals to me).

I used a Feather in the Carbon for the first time today and, again, was expecting more of a blade forward shave than the velvety smooth shave I had. The diminutive size of the Carbon and the thin centre part of the handle really helped negate my general lack of precision with my left hand.

All-in-all this was a really enjoyable shave.

    Razor: Carbon Cx
    Blade: Feather
    Brush: Turn n Shave
Pre-Shave: Bedfordshire Beard Co Sawmill Beard Oil
Lather: Phoenix & Beau Right Handed Giant
Aftershave: I Coloniali Rhubarb AS Balm

For my shave this morning, I learned I certainly need to get organized above the upper-lip. Produced a weeper there that didn't amount to much, but still, there it was. Otherwise, all went well. I may have said this before, but I'm glad Doc Ezlovan made the small narrow "peephole" so as only a little of the Stoylin Gentleman A.S. comes out at a time.Potent scent, but nice just the same. Back with same setup tomorrow. My grade? Fairly Excellent.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Jason. Your Executive Assistant is a keeper. If you had stuck it out yesterday at work, you'd have been full-on terse by the afternoon. :D
