My blue CH2 is not the same shade as yours but it does the same thing. I have yet to capture the true beauty of the brush in a photo. So I know exactly what you're talking about.

Awhile back, I wrote up some simple instructions to accompany a shave kit gifted to a friend. I condensed it down to one page. I would appreciate your feedback on how to make it better. Thanks.

    -----

Google “Mantic59 Ten Minute Traditional Wet Shave” for tutorial video.

1st pass is generally with the grain (WTG) of the whiskers. 2nd pass is across the grain (XTG) or against the grain (ATG). Aim for partial beard reduction on each pass.

Soak brush in warm water before use to hydrate and soften the bristles.

Prep beard with soap and warm water for at least a minute.

Securely load a new blade into the razor. Blade exposure should be even on both sides of the razor head. Use Solid Bar base plate until you become proficient with the razor.

When building a lather with your shaving brush, use plenty of product and incorporate water slowly. Slowly add water until the lather breaks, and then add more product. Face lathering allows you to continue prepping your beard. Use canned foam or gel until you become proficient with the razor.

Rinse your razor under the tap before you start shaving to warm it up.

Perform a WTG pass and stop shaving. Re-lather and add additional passes as required for additional closeness once you become proficient with the razor.

    Important:

    · Great beard prep and great lather
    · Use just enough pressure to allow the blade edge to touch the skin
    · Use short and slightly overlapping strokes; no strokes over un-lathered skin
    · Use your off-hand to continually stretch your skin
    · Divide face into sections and shave over flat areas (facets of a diamond)
    · Fix your wrist to hold a steady (~30 degree) blade angle
    · Use the blade edge to gently wipe the lather from your face. When blade angle is correct, there is no tugging or scraping

Check the razor head periodically to make sure it is attached securely to the handle.

Use both sides of the blade. Change blades after three shaves, or sooner if you suspect damage to the blade edge. Leave the blade in the razor between shaves. Rinse the razor, and leave it in the stand to air dry in the open between uses.

Perform normal aftershave routine to rinse and moisturize your skin. Admire the results.

Rinse and use towel to gently dry and fluff brush after use. Stand it on end, and let it air dry in the open between uses.

Periodically use Scrubbing Bubbles or Dawn and a soft toothbrush to clean razor.

Important: consult a qualified engineer if additional information is needed

Now that I'm caught up between posts on here , packing my daughter up for hockey tournament, modifying a guard for my snowblower and sorting out tools , I am off to get the blower ready for the forecast of 35cm of snow over the next 3 days . Will shave , post and get caught up again later eh!

Everything is fine. I also keep the razor in the open position and separate the blade for air drying.

Thank you, Patrick! As you know, shavette shaves can be very good. I know that I sound like a broken record, but shavette shaving helped me be a better shaver.

I'm in the early stages of planning for an "All-Clubman Week". Don't know which week it will be, but I think I can pull it off with my different products.

How'd you like the comment at the end about consulting a qualified engineer? Everyone knows we're all qualified. Or maybe just know-it-alls? :happy102:
