    nice multi-quote, Micah!
    Kudos!

as for the Victor/Victoria thing, remember back a few years Victoria's Secret went after some small town guy who named his store "Victor's Little Secret"? That was wrong, I thought, but oh well...

and as for the Zune, why did MS not make a pink (or any color besides red or black?) Zune 80?
    doofuses

speaking of microsoft, there was a thing on PBS last night about Bill Gates, was watching it and it got to a point about the monopoly trials, the signal started going away (I HATE this digital transition carp), then went away completely....I'm figuring the towers were running on Windows and were designed to not allow Microsoft/Bill Gates bad-mouthing :happy097:happy097:happy097

also, if you're a Zune user and haven't clicked the link in my sig, what're you waiting for?

the new ZuneHD looks pretty awesome, but I think I'll stick with hard drive models til the SSDs are larger and have a competitive price point...won't be long, but I'll still wait

I saw the BG thing last night. It's actually quite fascinating. Our signal got a little choppy once or twice, but I got to see the end of it. That Lotus dude was harboring a serious grudge against the bespectacled one.

Bill is actually a fascinating guy, and I have a great deal of respect for what he's been able to do. But I think he walks a thin line when it comes to business practices.

You should really read "The Road Ahead." It's like the "Mein Kampf" of the technology industry.

    Hey folks.

Girlfriend's father got rushed to the emergency room last night. Latest update is that he's in the ICU and is conscious again.

Saw this a while back and thought some of you would be interested but forgot to post it until now:

yeah, I agree on the "thin line" part, but at the same time, he's in business to succeed, I think his huge success just makes him a bigger target when he does exactly what everyone else would do in that situation
and as far as Netscape, I never liked it, I always liked IE better (at the time :D)
that reminds me, I need to get Opera installed on my netbook

I should've known my rant would come back to bite me in the rear. UAASCCoSA doesn't bother me, partly because I've had previous experience with you and trust your advice, and partly because it has a humorous/ sarcastic take-it-or-leave-it-tone.

And I was just in a bad mood last night, anyway.

I though I was the only one who knew about Thunderbird. Did the response go:

"What's the price?" "Twenty twice." or something like that.

Last day of work in PHX folks. Currently cleaning out my desk and packing up the last few items. Gonna be hitting the road to Denver soon so I'll be out of range. Have a great remainder of the week, and I'll catch you all from the Rockies next week.

well Shep, enjoy the day, hopefully nothing major happens that ruins the day for you
hope the transition is smooth for you, but don't forget the priorities - shaving, internet connection, THEN work, utilities, unpacking, etc. :D

I actually found myself thinking about that bowl-o-razors today... I wonder how many travel techs they have left. I was thinking about picking up two and making a case out of an altoids tin to hold them both. That'd fit nicely as a permanent piece in my overnight bag. One for my head, one for my face. 'Course, I'd have to find a way to distinguish them from each other... maybe it's time to invest in that powder-coating rig...

    UUUGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

okay, back on the first, I ordered a laptop and other items from Dell (still can't believe I did that) for my wife, she's going to be doing online classes to get her masters degree and wanted her own laptop to keep up with everything
    this is what I ordered:
    Dell 15" pink laptop
    pink logitech V450 mouse
blue logitech V450 mouse (for my netbook :D)
    pink and gray laptop bag
    pink flash drive
(my wife likes pink, I reckon)

like I said, ordered these on the 1st, and the initial expected delivery dates were:

laptop - July 24th : understandable, seeing it has a special case color, several customizations, etc.
got notified yesterday to expect it on the 16th - woo-hoo!

other stuff - July 27th : what the crap? you don't have to build any components, just go grab the crap off the shelf, put it in a box and ship, shouldn't be more than 6 days getting to my house!
well, notification yesterday said to expect delivery today....
yes, the box it here, good thing!
big hole in side of box, BAD thing!

let's see - pink laptop bag, CHECK; pink flash drive, CHECK; blue mouse, CHECK; pink mouse, pink mouse, Bueller? Bueller?

oh boy, here we go dealing with this crap now

yeah, kinda just getting in from VBS
had to check email see if any word from Dell on my above post
Uuugghh, I'm so frustrated with them, that box should never have left the warehouse...
    but, update:
DID manage to track down the UPS truck that brought the package - not as sinister as it sounds "ooh, I keep tabs on the UPS truck, ooooh", I just happen to know where it stops before it heads out of town, so I stopped by to ask if/when the driver would be by today. Stopped back by, she checked the truck, no sign of the mouse. She put in her notes the box was damaged, she noticed it damaged when they loaded the truck this AM (uhhh, that's not a red flag?)
anyway, I went through Dell's process online for the evening, but you can rest assured your hero will be calling and bugging them tomorrow - not only that, I'll be calling and bugging them, too

Wish you luck with that Jim. I never had the pleasure of having a shipping problem with Dell, so I have no frame of reference. I do love the way the some of the shipping companies like to use boxes for footballs, stepping stools.
