Ahh shucks Jim. You made me feel all fuzzy inside. Hope the used parts experience was positive. I have had a couple of lemons in my batch of supers. I can usually tell after 2 or 3 passes. I don't find that with feathers but overall the supers seem to treat me better. How is life in Texas? We really haven't even had a summer yet here in Wyoming. Usually by now we have had some 100 or at least 90 degree days. It has been 70-80 so far. We are also getting some a lot of rain which is very odd for WY this time of year. I haven't even been able to get the boat out yet. Tried to take it out on the 4th but discovered that when we had it winterized at the boat dealership they, um, well forgot to winterize it. Now I have a cracked block. Luckily they are owning up to their mistake. Luckily I kept the receipt for the winterization they charged me for---I let them see it after they told me they didn't think they were supposed to winterize it. Should have that fixed soon.

well, my tech issues continue today, and increase in multitude...
no, I still haven't called Dell, will call tomorrow, as today was too busy - not that tomorrow's not busy: I have [slash]a double hernia planned[/slash] to help Micah with an AC unit tomorrow morning, then the afternoon sees me take my wife for another follow-up visit, hopefully with some answers this time, so the Dell call will have to be short and sweet (yeah, right)

now, the new: wife grabbed my phone to text my sister earlier and said "why is the screen still locked?" after pressing the unlock button. I looked and saw that the 'locked' message was NOT on, and said "it shouldn't be locked"
long story short, the touchscreen is screwed, won't respond to anything - my biggest concern when I got this phone (LG Glimmer), I don't like anything to have touch screen that doesn't also have physical buttons that can get tasks done (my biggest concern with the new Zunes coming out soon)
and of course, I got the phone while it was still Alltel, so there's no telling what kind of help I'm going to get. I'm pretty perturbed right now with everything I'm touching going to crap, I probably shouldn't be on the computer right now :o

hmmm, sounds like you're having some same customer service issues I'm having....:D

as for the weather, was just at my father-in-laws and they were talking about the year-long winter Wyoming and area have had this year - wow, talk about coincidence

Great to see you back! LOL on the name suggestions

OK, I think I have now met somebody in the tech fields with more tech issues than me! :happy102

Question on the A/C... Where does the unit go in Tx? In the midwest the unit sits on a concrete pad in the back or side of the building. In CA they are on the roof. When I was living in KY/TN, nobody had central air. So where do they put the A/C unit in TX? I hope for your case that it isn't the roof!

    Man, you are so right.
After dinner tonight (and after the sun went down), I went for a nice long walk.
I'm going to try to make that a habit.
It's not much, but it's a start, and it's a damn sight more activity than I've been doing.
I'm also going to look into fixing my diet up a bit.
The Dr. said watch the carbs and eat more fish as a guideline.
That's really not so hard, though I do like bread, rice, and pasta.
And thank goodness I like fish, I just don't like the idea of cutting down on my beloved ribeyes.

Anyway, I appreciate the advice and well wishes.

I won't complain the cooler weather is nice. It just seems like we are still in spring, luckily it hasn't been cold (although it did snow June 4th)

Thank you Justin, it is good to be back.

yeah, I don't usually have a lot of tech issues, but when I do it's almost always something I can fix...UPS issues I can't do anything about, and cell phone issues, at least this model where I found umpteen cases of other people having the same exact problem, this should be a quick issue to rectify, but I fear it won't be.

for central AC, it's mostly on a concrete pad outside - I know of a few examples where it's in the ceiling, mounted to the rafters with a metal pan under it that drains outside - but a lot of folks still use, either as primary or as supplementary cooling, window units, which is what we'll be playing with tomorrow

Anyone have any experience with the inside, free standing AC units that just need a vent tube piped outside? I think they are a great idea but wonder how well they work.

No, but I was thinking about putting one in the camper at one point. There were several people on the pop-up forums that were liking them at the time.

I had/have one on the 2nd floor of my 1904 home in Spokane. It gets hotter than blazes up there, but that little unit takes the edge off. It's as least as good as a window unit; better perhaps because it's more mobile. I like them.

Great idea. I have a pop up and in WY I wouldn't need it but if we every travel that would be nice.

So where does the water from the condensor go? Does it have a hose you pipe outside a window or something?

You know, that's a good question...

No water exhaust on mine. I think this is how it works (from consumer reports):

Noise is kind of an issue, especially if you try to sleep with the darned thing turned on full blast. In my new (rental) home, we've got central air. Ahhhh...

I have central air as well, but I always wanted to know how the others worked.

Fellas, I am going to call it an evening. I will try to get back on more often. I am taking a weeks vacation next week to visit my folks. Let me start over, I am taking my son back to NE so my parents can spoil him. They won't even know my wife and I are there. Thus I should have plenty of computer time.

    Happy Shaving!!!

no, but I've seen quite a few used around town, in particular a popular little restaurant here, it seems to cool the place pretty well, though it is a little on the noisy side. they do have a hose run to a window

Well, I've apparently came out of my hole for the moment, so I figure I should stop in and say Hello to y'all.

    Oh well. <shrug>

    I'm off to bed.

Nice to see you, Tracy! (I'm sure you probably won't see this post, though.)

Night, all! Thanks for all the support, be it by phone calls, pm's, or FB posts/chats. :signs001 It helped a lot.

Its great to have the Queen back!

Somebody in the apartment building is in for a very bad Friday.

There is a black convertible in the parking lot. Well, I shouldn't call it black anymore. How about a modern art with lots of purple blotches? Looks like somebody tossed out a full gallon of purple paint onto the car. Front grille, hood, top, driver's side door....

okay, so I wake up early this AM, and recognize the [slash]faint[/slash] undeniable sound of lightening....guess we won't be lifting just yet then
so Micah, when did you get texting service, or did you just decide to eat the cost for the convenience this time? :D
