Sorry about the rough shave, Keith! I had a similar experience with an Oleo soap a couple of months ago. If I had my druthers, I’d shave with MWF or MdC Vetiver to the end of my days.

Weekends are just not long enough. The Rocky Mountain Barber Co Sandalwood Cream was a Christmas/Birthday gift from my wife. The cream was easy to lather and slick with a touch of menthol. Two passes on 5, WTG and ATG had me baby smooth except for my neck and jawline. So I went for a thirst pass on just those areas and caught the baby with ease. No drama and no blood which is a real win with me and this beast. A splash of Fine Santal and I am off to work. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

    February 10 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Jr
    Blade: Polsilver
    Brush: PAA The Solar Flare
    Lather: PAA Al Fin
    Aftershave: PAA Al Fin

Well, it is finished. This is my last PAA set (although I do admit to having a few AS splashes that are not matched to soaps). It wasn't planned this way, but the name is fitting for the end. This is a lovely scent, one that made it into my top 15 PAA scents. The rose strikes me at first, but there is much more there. This one has some depth to it as the tobacco begins to enter the picture. After a bit Vetiver comes along and just really adds to this scent. These primary notes could carry this just fine, but there is also a bit if citrus in the background along with a hint of woodiness. I did not get a comment this morning, but this one has earned the coveted SWMBOSOA (©️ @Primotenore ) in the past. After a while, this scent is reminiscent of Fine Fresh Vetiver, but honestly it has a lot more going on to my nose. Just a great scent.

This little exercise has shown me a few things. One, I definitely like PAA soap performance. The CK6 base is an improvement over the CK1 base, but both a great performers IMO. Second, I enjoyed spending a little time and ranking these scents. It was interesting to look at how the rankings ended up as tobacco shows up in several of the tops scents I have, but so does Frankincense and Myrrh, and these scents often have a woody component. The last thing this time has shown me is that I may have a slight problem when it comes to PAA.

In terms of ranking, I will just say that the top 5, maybe the top 10 are soaps I will likely always have in my den as long as they are offered. I would not hesitate to buy just about all of them, except possibly 1 or 2 at the end of the list. Either my standards are low, or PAA does a good job with their scents. That is for others to decide. :)

My list is attached for this who are interested. I hope everyone has a great day!

    SOTD February 10, 2020

Prep: Cold water and PAA Cube pre-shave soap
Blade: vintage Private Club Platinum Chrome
    Razor: Schick G4 '66'
    Brush: Ever Ready 100T badger
    Soap: Stirling Dirty South Shavers
Post: Witch hazel, TSD Iced Barber Shoppe aftershave

Easy shave this morning. Less than 24 hours of growth and therefore a fairly quick shave. Beautiful Stirling lather and a nice finish from the TSD splash. All came together in fine fashion.

    Enjoy your day!
