Earlier today I said that I was contemplating ordering a shave soap that I felt could cover for two aftershaves I have...and now the order is in! It's with Sir Hare. It's their Alpha soap-a blend of Sandalwood and Tobacco, and it should cover my Stoylin Gentleman and Clubman Whiskey Woods aftershaves. Flat shipping fare and I'm convinced from their site and others who purchased with them that the customer service is great. I'd say those are two quality factors in selecting..well...ANY company, let alone one that does artisan shave products.
Another razor porn shot that belongs on the pages of Safety Razor Monthly! Great pic, Jim, love that brush!
Yes you did, sir. I wanted to keep the formatting the same, so I copied, pasted, and then changed (not quite) everything to fit the shave--missed the blade; good catch!. I'll change that post haste Although, could you imagine trying to shave with a DE razor using an SE blade? *shudders*
SOTD Focused February 18th Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap RazoRock SS Hawk V1 Feather Professional Super Yaqi Ruby Red (24mm, Frigate Class) RazoRock XXX Country Club Sweet Water AS My second focused setup for the month is this. I want to see if I can get better results from the RR Hawk using a Feather Pro Super. Software choice for this focus is the RazoRock XXX and CC Sweet Water AS. Whipping up the suds will be the Yaqi Ruby Red in finest badger, a brush that performs well above it's frugal price tag. This morning shave was very nice, loaded with the Pro Super the SS Hawk did provide a little more blade feel, but nothing that anyone would call aggressive. The XXX whipped up into a fluffier lather then I am used to but was still plenty slick and protective to keep the ultra sharp Feather blade from drawing any blood. Three passes got me close to DFS but there were still a couple of rough spots that I will have to work on. I hope you all had a great weekend, I know we sure did celebrating Logans 3rd birthday! Have a great day my friends! Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
True! However, we tend to blame ourselves for substandard shaves instead of realizing that it may be a substandard razor. Nine times out of ten it is our technique, but obviously it wasn't in your case. I hope that we all learned from your trying experience. Stay well, Jeff!
Andrew: You never cease to surprise me! A RR SS Hawk. I have been on the list forever waiting for one, but they never seem to come up! Congratulations on the good shave and Logan’s birthday! My youngest grandson, Nathan, has his second birthday coming up in June.
Thanks Andrew! Actually, I used three hot towels. After the last hot towel application, then used cold water to close the pores. I used my microwave to heat a moist towel. I don't know if you ever tried it, but it is a real treat. I know you are busy with work and family, but if you ever had the time to do a hot towel treatment, then it is definitely worth it.
Thanks, Jeff! I have been relaxing and taking it easy so far. It's great going to the gym early afternoons because it's not crowded. Tomorrow, I have to straighten a few things out. I have to research different Medigap plans because I will be turning 65 in June and want to get my Medicare situation wrapped up before June.
