    Thanks, Clint!
The soap and aftershave are new additions. Terrific scent. I don't have anything quite like it.

    From Talbot:

Scented with neroli, patchouli, bergamot, guaiac wood, & vetiver.

    Very nice Jim!
I dont just like it ....I love it ....NOT!!!
I know another guy who calls you Jim by mistake. Should take his autocorrect away too !

I like the vintage OS scent back when I had it years ago. Shame I was using carts then.

Sounds like you had fun Neil!
I thought Network 23 closed after the reporter got himself stuck in a urine smelling phone box and burned his feet . Must have got them shoes resoled ! Great report Bill on the blades !
If I was getting shaves like that I would have a hard time switching to other gear . Someday....someday I will find that magic combination!

Some of the tubed cream I've tried went to the bin or the drawer again cause I couldn't make them lather. May dig a couple out and hot lather them next month.

Very good report Clint! Have a great Saturday!

good morning gents, shave of the day not determined yet, but I'm kind of wanting to try out my "Voskhod" blade in my aristocrat. Got an excellent shave with that DE blade in my blue tip last shave. Lets see how it holds up when used in this Aristocrat.

Those blades make any razor shave well in my opinion Myles .

No shave day here today. Finally having my daughter's Birthday party/ sleepover that was missed due to her being sick. Only brush I'll be using is a Bbq brush today, after I get the darn thing shovelled out !. Sunny and warming up here in the East coast for a change. Have a great day gents!

    Patrick:
I’m definitely enjoying my shaves! I do believe that technique trumps tools. At least that’s what I’m discovering. My Rex after being repaired shaves like a dream! The only one of my razors Ikve never been able to get a decent shave from is my French Spadson, and I believe that’s because the razor itself needs repair.

    2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 1

The shavette focus began with two mostly uneventful passes. The first pass consisted of mostly WTG strokes, while the second pass was mostly ATG. This is my normal routine, regardless of razor. My muscle memory quickly returned from previous outings with the SRX. I made sure to take confident and intentional strokes. Anyone using open blades knows that tentative strokes can result in nicks or cuts. I had no problem going over my entire face, including those tricky-to-navigate areas around my mouth, upper lip, and the bulb of my chin. I also had no problem using my razor in the opposite hand as needed when shaving my cheeks.

All the skin stretching I've been practicing paid off; however, I managed to catch the front corner of the blade a couple of times. This causes a couple of weepers that retreated once alum was applied. Result: near BBS, completely comfortable, and no irritation except for two mosquito bites on the side of my neck.

Having the Tech as a back-up came in handy for cutting the edges of my sideburns and performing some light touch-ups around my mouth, upper lip, and chin. It's a neat little razor, and it will be fun using it for an entire shave. We're taking an overnight trip next weekend, and it will get its chance then.

So what was different on today's shavette shave vs. yesterday's DE shave?

    (1) I paid more attention to keeping my fingers dry and my grip on the razor sure.

    (2) The Chubby 2 is a much different lathering tool than the synthetic brush I had been using. I had tons of lather, but it wasn't quite the consistency I prefer. I'll get it dialed in. This bad boy eats a whole lotta soap.

    (3) I used my brush scuttle and had warm lather for the first time in a while. It felt great!

    (4) I got to have a little fun with my Travel Tech, and it was handy having it on deck as a back up...that's a first for me.

    (5) The shave took about 10 minutes longer than a DE shave. I made up my mind to enjoy and focus on the process, and it was fun. My times will get better as I re-familiarize myself with the SRX.

    (6) If I thought the Wet Earth soap smelled strange, it's nothing compared to how it tastes. This is not something I'd want to spread on a BLT. :)

This focus is gonna be fun, and I can't wait for everyone else to get started.

I actually liked the Feather ProGuards. They surprised me. Might be worth a try in the Irving Barber tool.

For the $70, I should get one of those someday.

As far as having blade options the IBC shavette is a nice one to have. I've used it with AC and injector blades. I have yet to try it with a half DE blade.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Nice shave with the SRX (and little Tech buddy). A lot of good tips in there for the guys who will be trying shavettes for the first time in March. Blood will be spilled, but by focusing on some basics it won't be a massacre by any means. As for that Omega - was that a boar or badger they sent up with the Apollo guys? Oh.......wait........not THAT Omega. That is all.

The Feather ProGuards are nice. I like them.

The technology to clad a razor blade in this fashion was patented in the 60's by the the Personna folks when they were owned by Phillip Morris.

Today it can be found in Bump Fighter Razors. A single edge pivoting head razor target marketed at men of African decent who are particularly plagued by multi-blade cartridges.

It is used in AC blades by Feather and Kai.

It is also found in women's eyebrow type razors, presumably mfg'd by one of the above (branded or custom label).
