Thanks Neal. I appreciate the good words. I think you and I both started using Pain Sticks around the same time. It's cool that we can both pick them up now and use them without too much fuss and carnage.

I don't know about the Apollo astronauts, but Marvin the Martian wears an Omega boar atop his helmet. I wouldn't kid him about it (or his skirt), though. He appears to be armed and spaced out. Oh, well, I triple dare you to... :D

We had a very nice sunny day today. I went out to lunch with my mom. Swati and I are going out for a light dinner.

Thanks Tim. There ain't no catching up 'cause we ain't racing. :) Just jump in whenever you're ready. I was just at a convenient point to get started today. You're among a bunch of friends here that stand ready to help you and cheer you on.

We'll all have the occasional oops-a-daisy. That's just part of using an open blade. I agree with @NCoxSTL, though. With decent technique, which you already possess, the incidents will be minor in nature. A key for me was getting to the point that I wasn't trying to overthink using a shavette. I just think of it like any other razor and proceed with an appropriate level of caution and confidence. You'll be there soon enough, and the process of using a shavette will become quite enjoyable.

If all else fails...according to Marshall Brodien, magic is easy once you know the secret. ;)

Thanks Patrick! Great wrist shot of a classic watch! It sounds like you have a fun day planned. The only thing missing would be polar bear plunges in the swimming pool.

Thank you, Joe. I'm counting on you as our Double Jedi Knight to keep tabs on the rest of us and jump in with shavette advice anytime. As you say, I'm shooting for nice and comfortable shaves now. Everything else comes later.

I have you, Tim's and Patrick's backs. I will use my shavettes for the first 2 weeks in March and then rotate between straights and shavettes the last 2 weeks.

In that case, Patrick, you better have a couple of Molson Goldens first. Tonight you won't care and tomorrow you won't remember where all the bruises and soreness came from. :D

All worth it when they hit adulthood and call up Daddy, just to talk.

You just know most of what you did to get there was right.

A fantastic 3 pass shave today. A fresh Astra in the Cooper and a fine -albeit a little thin, more like what the open blade guys like, I think- lather set the stage to mow down 30 hours or so of growth with ease. Felt a little left on the jawline... nope, chased it and caught it. As Keith would say, Epic.
MrsSpartan is playing with the local Symphony tonight, and I’m taking my mom with me to watch. Should be a nice evening.
    Have a great weekend all!
