  4. Beautiful photo and shave, Jason--those blues in the background are gorgeous; makes everything in the foreground pop! And an epic shave is always awesome! :D

  6. Isn't the Spadson made by the same outfit that makes the Turbo Encabultor?
  7. Week 4 (Anything Goes)
This week, I just do whatever the heck I feel like with the day's razor--soap, splash, Frost Drops (or not), one pass or four... anything goes :D

Feb. 22 Episode 22: “Blood on Steel”

    Parker Variant

    Last ever shave…?

    Week 4, Day 1 Gear
    • Blade: Voskhod (1)--I was very excited to try this blade; Perhaps all my Variant troubles were blade related
    • Brush: Kong
    • Soap: Soap Commander “Drive”
    • Enhancements: Stirling Frost Drops
    • AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue.
    • Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented.

    The Shave
I won’t waste your time here. Shave was exactly the same as yesterday--good results, but uncomfortable. Tuggy, and with a brand new Voskhod blade. Also, I got a slight weeper on my chin 1st pass. Shave over.

Assuming the razor is not defective, there is no doubt in my mind that I can learn to shave with the Parker Variant. But do I want to? On the one hand, aside from my chin, I’m acceptably smooth, and 0 irritation with just one pass. But on the other hand, every shaved inch was unpleasant and hard fought.

In other news: for those wondering if Soap Commander can be "super-gooped"...

...the answer is a resounding YES!

I took the blade out, and carefully cleaned and dried the Variant. More so than usual--I’m pretty sure this was my last shave with it. Tomorrow the Razorock Classic TTO will take the Voskhod blade out for a spin. Hopefully it'll get better results

    Enjoy your Saturday, folks :D
  8. The whole time I listened to this, I was wondering where the laugh track was...

  9. Sorry the Variant isn't working out for you. I've never been a fan of Voskhod blades FWIW. I keep trying them thinking it's me but they tend to struggle cutting through my coarse grey whiskers.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's report.
  10. Thanks, Gary.

    DR Harris Rose~~Simpson CH2 Synthetic~~1947 Gillette Super-Speed~~Gillette Silver Blue~~DR Harris Pink
Hotel shave so different gear. I got a few small DRH creams for $1.99 ea. shipped.

Great for traveling and you can consider them "samples", but I am here to tell you
that 15ml will go a long way. I used a "pea" size amount and got plenty of excellent lather for three passes.
Better than average slickness and the rose scent is really nice.
My first foray with a GSB and I was impressed. Smooth and sharp.
Of course, the 1947 Super-Speed can make an average blade seem great.
One splash of the just-acquired DRH Pink. My third bottle and the first in plastic.
WTH, I saved $8.00 over glass.
