Well, I napped some in the wee hours this morning so now I'm up and having a spot of coffee myself.:eatdrink013
I might try to do a little exercise this morning and see if that settles me down so I can sleep some this afternoon.

I hope you guys are all having a good day. :D

Hey guys! this morning was a mess, I couldn't fall asleep until around 4 AM and I accidently shut my alarm off so I woke up a half hour late and was a half hour late for work. My house is out of milk (which ... well I can't even think of the last time that's happened) so I had to fork over $2 for coffee at starbucks this morning. Meh.. sorry for the rant but I'm sleepy *yawn*

    Morning everyone!

    Congrats Bill!

I slept in this morning and am just a bit stiff and sore (ankle is popping and I have a knot on my knee from where it decided to take a taste of concrete...). But hey, I am going to try out that modified Valet this morning. When I loaded a Pella blade into it this morning, I could see where some more work needs to be done to smooth out where I ground out some of the metal. Oh well... if you don't hear from me again, then it was a really bad idea.

Update: I survived the experiment. However, that made one heck of an aggressive combination. Lots of weepers... I think more than I ever got (and that is including straights) and it isn't BBS. However, as an experiment... it would be a success. I can certainly strop the unmodified blade on the Valet. It was never actually intended to shave with the autostrop when I started this..

    Morning all!

Justin, I hope the knee isn't too painful and heals quick for you. Wish your shave could have gone a little better for you tho...

Congrats on the conversion, do you think you can ever make it a good shaver for you or just going to use it to strop the S/E blades.

I think it is going to be a matter of learning the technique for it. I was probably going at too high of an angle. I forgot how sharp those Pella blades tend to be. I will give it a few more shaves to see. However, I don't want to go to a family gathering all chewed up. Realistically, I think it was just something to do because I wanted to do it (Like my Super adjustable hybridization project). Now that it is done? I dunno. I certainly don't see myself crossing 100% to the GEM side.

Between DE, straight, SE, Rolls Razor, Injector... I have too many choices of paths to take, to take any of them exclusively. However, I will probably always be mostly DE shaving. However, I enjoy tinkering and these little projects bring out another level of joy in the hobby.

The Autostrop has never been kind to me, I don't know if its me or the razor, I finally just figured I had too many other choices to worry about it.

I must say you surprised me when you said you would primarily be a D/E shaver. I figured you would stick to the straights after you had them down pat.

I don't know... I have so much wrapped in DE I feel guilty not using it. I have used straights enough to be able to say that I have and can shave with them without deathly results. Now they aren't as appealing to me. I guess they fall into another of those projects that were fun and neat at first but don't go any where. No - I don't have ADHD.. why would you ask? I will still use them now and again; however, just like the Rolls Razor, the Gems, and the injector.. they are just every now and then things to me. I certainly don't have a desire to collect any more straights or straight gear.

    Hey Bong!

    Hi Bill, Justin.
just checking in to see what the hubbub was on the changing of the guards here.

How was the weekend for you all,
been having a heatwave here(well for us in the NW anything over 75 for more than 5 days is a heatwave)

I'm sorry, I just thought that you would stick to the straights like most guys seem to do after they master them.

Me? I would never get into straights.

    Right Bong? :D

Shocking development isn't it. Trust me no one is more surprised than me. :)

So then that heatwave means that you have to run the a/c in the car on your way up the mountain to go skiing then? :happy102

Close, I spend a lot of time driving w/AC, and I spend an amazing amount of time in the movie theaters, the library, and my favorite place in blistering heat, in the freezer section of the local grocery store.

Wow, sorry Bong, I just checked your weather forecast out there. That does bite... I thought you was just joking about it being 75 - 80 in your area.

You be sure to watch yourself in that kind of heat! Heat exhaustion can sneak up on a person quickly.

Each question is going to be it's own entry but it will probably be updated at least once a day while I have time. More if I can think of things to write about.

My boyfriend is upstate painting their lake house and he found an old gillette DE still in a box in the bathroom. I don't know what it is yet because he has no clue about this stuff but he's going to bring it home so I can check it out. He said it's in great shape but the box is dirty :p

Keep it up Jen. I will be interested to see what else you come up with. Its been hard keeping my mouth shut when you have posted your questions on here.. (I guess its the science teacher in me - but he is on summer vacation and needs to shut up once in a while)
