The razor doesn't matter a bit for me. I do three passes with any of them. My beard grows in every direction. My three passes involve five different direction changes to get the results I want. Terrific pictures, Danny! Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
All is well by me Danny. I know you have been focused on things that take priority so I pray that things will get settled for you. Miss you day-to-day posts. Take care my friend!
A socially acceptable shave is usually available in one pass. It is our own desire that drives us to much-moe-betta
You are a wild man, Jim! Seriously, I am not knocking anyone for doing 3 or more passes because they have to or they want to do so. I am fortunate that I can get away with 2 passes to get a very close shave. My extra1/2 pass is when I go for BBS. For the most part, I don't need to go BBS, but some guys do and they need to do more passes because their beard is thick and coarse. In general, I think the average guy can get by with 2 pass shaves.
I don't know about a wild man but I do have a wild beard. It would be nice if I had more uniform growth. Less passes and less direction changes. Admittedly I do go for BBS with every shave. Necessary? Not at all but I do enjoy the near perfectly smooth face for the short time it lasts. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
February Focus Acqua di Parma Colonia~~Simpson Emperor 3~~Heljestrand MK32 Back to the Heljestrand MK32. Before I stropped, I took some lighter fluid and cleaned my strops. After which, I applied a light coat of Neatsfoot oil and rubbed it in thoroughly. I have read differing opinions with regard to strop "treatments". Last time I cleaned the strops, I did not apply anything. The draw on the SRD 3" strop was noticeably greater, while the Savin 2" was about the same. After today's application, the draw was indeed much less on the SRD and about the same on the Savin. Proof, however, is in the pudding, as the saying goes. But first, I whipped up some really luscious lather with the AdP (Original Formula). Take a gander: I don't often reach for my Captain's Choice lathering bowl, as it is too shallow and narrow, but it worked well today, using a more diminutive knot, such as the Emperor 3. There's a real trend towards "goopy" lather these days. For my needs, I look for micro-foam, elasticity and shine. The lather should not hold a stiff peak, but rather fall slowly. Naturally, YMMV and your lather is your business. The MK32 continues to hold a keen edge and quite frankly, I wonder honestly, if I were to do NOTHING different, how long before it would actually even need a proper "refreshing". I have taken to eschewing the XTG pass and find my results to be pretty similar. Regardless of what I do, there is still those pesky areas just above my Adam's Apple, left and right. But, as I have said before, this hair grows almost at a 90˚ angle to my skin, so it only gets completely removed, when I haven't shaved for 3-4 days. That ain't happening. Mixed a dollop of Stirling Unscented Glacial ASB with a spritz or two of the Colonia EdC for an exquisite combo-finish. Worth 5 extra points.
