Woah.... 8 hours between posts earlier. Egads, what happened to the night shift?

Feeling better again, so hopefully will get things accomplished today. Yeah right.... But we do have several things scheduled today, so I may not be typing at y'all until tonight. Have a good day everyone!

Going to bed now. Yes, I've been up all night. I kicked some major order booty, though. Slept a good part of yesterday anyway. Felt better yesterday afternoon/evening, so I figured I should get some work done.

I'll probably be up by 1 or 2 this afternoon.

does Jennifer sound more professional then Jen? or just more like a stripper name?

I've often thought about this... do you realize, one day, there's going to be nursing homes all over this country filled with Jennifers, Kimberlys, Tanners, Lances, and Ambers?

That's going to be a weird day indeed.

Yes, in my opinion a real name is more professional than a nickname, even a if it's a shortened version of a real name, like Jim for James, in my case.

however, if your given real name is Jen, well then there's nowhere else to go with it.

I don't think "Jen" is any less professional, but given your particular situation, I think Jennifer, while not necessarily more professional, would be more correct to use.

just my thoughts. I always use James for professional/official stuff (exception: messed up on my A+ certificate - but, I'll have to let that one slide since my boss handled all the paperwork on that), and Jim for less formal stuff....there you go, Jen and Jennifer both are plenty professional, but Jennifer would be more formal in professional settings, though Jen would be fine....

different issue if your nickname is Candy....

but then, that actually leads to another issue - I know someone who's given name is Candy (yes, she's a very sweet person, personality wise - otherwise, I'd guess probably, but don't know ), so I'm sure that's a different story, but one a birth certificate could easily answer

then you get into the realm of idiots who change their real name to stupid stuff for stupid reasons....but I've babbled on long enough, and am sure that the original question is foggied up enough that I can't remember it now......:ashamed001
(it also doesn't help that I had to answer three phone calls during the posting of this resonse...)

also, I know someone whose name is Pepper...to my knowledge, it's her honest to goodness given real name, but Micah may be able to shed some light on that one...

It's the confidence behind the name that makes it feel a certain way. Jen is fine as a professional name if that's who you are.

I have a similar issue with Tom/Thomas. I'm not really two different people, but I act/feel/think a bit differently depending on which name I use. Strangely, many of my oldest friends call me Thomas (or Tomas if they're hispanical), but professionally I'm Tom. I think of myself as Tom, so that's the name I use. The government and my insurance/doctor/dentist people think I'm Thomas. Dad always called me Buck, or Scott, or Charlie, or Buster (now THERE are some stripper names!), but never Tom. Who knows?

Either way, doesn't matter. Just be you and that's perfect! At least your name isn't Kiki... :D

My wife is a Jennifer. She goes by Jen to her friends and family. But she uses Jennifer on professional things. She just dislikes "Jenny"

Hope you are doing even better when you get up. Sleep well.

Jennifer is my real name so yeah, definitely makes more sense if just because it's my full name.

I know what you mean, I do feel different using Jennifer, it just feels more professional to me. My friends from the last 6-7 years know me as Jen.. before that I was Jenny. Ugh I hate that name...

Phlogiston.... what the hell is phlogiston?! http://jenniferisconfused.blogspot.com/ :D
