all this talk about names gets me thinking about my own.

It's a fairly unusual name, though, I'm hearing it used more often these days, it's Hebrew for "Who is like God." What's weird is, some people will try to shorten it to "Mike" but that's not me. Anybody who knows me well will tell you I'm not a Mike. It's funny how you have an image in your mind that goes with certain names... Everybody knows the difference between the Eds, the Eddies, and Edwards in their lives, not to mention Bob, Bobby, and Robert. Strange how that works.

 

almost bought a cheap pakistani steel sword today. It was a rapier (cutlass?) style sword with a cheap brass guard on it and a stainless blade. I'm thinking it would be nice to have one for Halloween (pirate theme, this year). They only wanted 11.95 for the heavy, unbalanced beast. It's not like I'm going to use it in combat or anything, so it was a real temptation, but I walked away from it. I'm really thinking I'm going to adopt a Barbary Pirate persona, which a Scimitar would be far more appropriate for. But still, 12.00 for a sword-- I might have to go back and get it just to use as a prop...
