have not used an Astra blade in a while (busy trying out other blades). Always nice to go back to a blade of your roots, that you like but have not used for a bit.

Sounds like a fantastic focus, Jason! I've really enjoyed seeing all the Vintage Gillette gear, so between the Techs and the News, this should be a fun month :D

Thank you Jason. I just find the Gem handle so small. Unlike some other Gems there is now way to use a modern handle on a Damaskeene without permanently altering the razor.

Always a lot of cool gear being used on here. While I will use my shavette a lot this month I will still use my other razors too. Funny fact, I have ordered 4 pairs of the exact same hiking shoes which I wear about 90% of the time, but I can't commit to a single razor for more than a couple weeks...

Very nice close shave . Took my time and was rewarded with great results . 1st pass with the grain . 2nd pass against the grain on cheeks and neck , across the grain around chin and mouth areas. Went in for a little cleanup under the jawline and called it a day as to not push my luck and get a nick or cut .
Since I have used the shavette and straights a few times before , I found myself not thinking about what grip or direction to shave in as this was a struggle for me in my early days . Thankfully I had lots of advice from the experienced guys and that made the hillclimb less steep .
I do alot ....alot of skin stretching and keep my blade clean and hands dry.
The Barbasol has a nice scent to it and gave nice glide and cushion . Last time I used foam was with a cart razor but as Chris @Bama Samurai points out , it speeds up the shave and is cheap.
As promised heres some Toots and the Maytals ....mon!

Yea a tech is a tech, my wife likes them.
That tells me they are on the mild side.
Maybe, I'll stick in a Feather blade in one someday.
My funky health is just that, I'll get by.
    Thanks!
Oh and yes on the cookies!

I will use a shavette about 50% of the time. Hopefully complete my evals. of artist club type blades I want to stock. I'll squeeze in a few straight shaves.

    Today 3/1
    Preshave - Proraso
Soap - Stirling Blood on Steel 2019
    Brush - Simpsons Emperor 2
    Bowl - tiny tiny plastic
Razor 1 - Gillette Flair Tip SS, Personna Blue (2)
Razor 2 - Feather Artist Club DX, Kai Captain Original (2)
Post - alum, Trumpers Lime Skin Food
    Aftershave - Stirling Tsuka Splash-On

I started with the 'new to me' Flair Tip with A Personna Blue on (2). The Max Headroom Shaving Assn. had formally decreed this blade to be in the 'one and done' category. The maiden voyage with this instrument was so surprisingly pleasant that I had to give the set-up a 2nd run. Even Edison Carter, needs to be reminded occasionally that arguing against the decrees of his alter ego is futile. The first pass indicated that while still delivering an adequate result, the experience was no longer a pleasure. The set-up was sent to the locker room, bringing in from the bench, the Feather DX with a Kai Captain Original (2) chambered and ready to save the day. So sorry for the Captain, but today is your last. Just too many others more readily available that I like more.

This tiny shave bowl might be better for the haters to eat soup from than it is for whipping lather. It is a convenient rest for the awesome performing little Simpson super badger.

I do remember when I'd use a safety razor to rescue an open blade shave, so here is one for everyone starting out for their Jedi Masters Degree this month.

Just in time to replace the emptying of my first bottle of BoS (Tsuka) aftershave I received this Tsuka that failed to make the grade for @timabababaluka who graciously gifted it to me. Apparently he heard somewhere that I was the #1 Tsuka fan and would be sure to get it used. Thanks Tim and Godspeed on your shavette journey.
