Yup. I'll go back to catch up.

    Agreed.

The abacus and the slide rule were two great inventions. :D

The whole "use a calculator" thing is just more evidence of the quick-fix-don't-work-hard-for-it nature of society today. Calculators are faster, more accurate, and are a quick solution to learning proper math skills. Sure, they're very useful, but for simple operations, there should be no need for them. There are far too many people that can't do math in their heads. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people get flustered in restaurants or in stores because they're trying to figure out tip or change or divide things up between more than two people. Math is a good thing.

I used to love those things. I had one the other day and now question my taste as a kid.

I'm beginning to question my taste as an adult. I used to hate, hate, HATE licorice. Now I crave the stuff. Go figger.

There are a lot of "basics" too many people failed to master in elementary school...

Although, in response to Jen's post... I seem to be forgetting how to do WAY too many things as I get older. Maybe it's the ::

had to put gas in the car this morning, and when I went in to pay, my eye caught glimpse of something new (to my area of the planet, anyway):
the brother of the Whatchamacallit candy bar - the Thingamajig!
I kid you not. Apparently it's got peanut butter in place of caramel...I'll let you know how the taste-tests go later

They sell thing-a-ma-jigs in some of the chocolatier stores around here. It has been quite a while since I saw once pre-packaged. I didn't know that they still made those in that form.

Just got my Schick repeater (model C2). I just keep loading it and unloading it. Quite fun.... I hope it shaves well!

If you ever have the fortune to play with a Schick Repeater.... be aware.. .when you pull the cap off... there is a sharp blade under there.

just sliced my hand. Thankfully, not deep... just long shallow cut. I have done worse on my face with the straight. :D
