Pretty good shave today with a new brush from Evan (@MrEE) and a new soap, Imperial Glycerin soap. The new brush performed beautifully and whipped up what at first glance appeared to be thick lather. When I shave I lather up both face and noggin, and start my first WTG pass on my face and then proceed to the dome. My problem was that by the time I finished the first pass on my face, the lather on my dome had pretty much faded away, requiring me to lather up the dome again. Once freshly lathered, the first dome pass required me to keep lathering. After finishing the sides, I noticed that the lather on the back of my head had faded, and required a fresh coat. Thus I finished that first pass, and liked the soap’s slickness and glide when freshly applied but the need to continue relathering was annoying.

For my second pass, I thought that I should devote more time to the actual lather generation. So I spent a few minutes lathering away. Unfortunately, I had the same experience with the second XTG pass on the dome again. The face shave was relatively uneventful, but it was the noggin scrape which was the problem again.

For my final ATG pass I decided to wait to lather the dome until after completing my face. But again, even with lathering the dome shortly before that third pass experienced lather fade on the back of my head. I will say that when the lather was fresh the glide and slickness was fine. The continual need to keep reapplying lather on the dome was annoying. The shave itself ended up as a very good DFS+. The post shave feel was good, but I guess I’m spoiled. I just love my MWF. I’ll give this soap one more swing tomorrow with the first pass, but I’ll make sure my MWF is handy if I reexperience the lathering issue. The new Badger/boar brush is excellent! I feel clean, smooth and refreshed.

Per several of you I tried the Feather in the Helmet for my first go round. After 4 days with the mild sticky this was quite the experience. Very light touch. Went real slow with this beast. Two passes and good to go. You need to be present focused with this razor.

    Good morning everyone!
The week is over, so to speak!
Today I have nothing planned, no games, no baby sitting, nothing.
It's been months since I had a day like this.
I'll call it my Lucky Tiger day!
Got out the two new razors that I wanted to try today.
Couldn't decide what one to use on their maiden shave.
So I used both, one for the mug, one for the gord.

The mug got the newly aquried Giant Junior with A Pesonna GEM blade mod to fit.
The blade was to short front to back, but the clips on the razor held it in the proper place. Running it like any older razor with no top cap blade cover.
High handle and light strokes it gave me an issue free, 2 pass shave that rivals any razor in its class.
The Yaqi Beast with a new Feather blade for a 2 pass issue free shave.
A heavy handle, so I choked up on it to ballance out the weight and off to the race's. Another shave that rivals the best of Safety razor efficiency.
20200307_080558.jpg The rest is pure luck!
Everything worked great and I'm ready for a "do what I want" kinda day.
Gonna be nice outside today, I really need a trip into the woods!
    All
    ENJOY!

    2020 Shavette Focus Shaves # 7 and 8

Two days, two nice and easy two-passers. I now employ the Tech only for squaring up the sideburns until I master the Twister maneuver for completing this part of the shave with the SRX. I perform a few touch-ups, but I resist the urge to over shave and irritate my skin. I have no doubt I could achieve a complete BBS with the shavette, but my mug wouldn't be happy. As it was, I'm near BBS, and the alum didn't bark but instead chased off one small weeper on my chin this morning.

    Baby, if you've ever wondered
    Wondered whatever became of me
I'm rockin’ the SRX here in Kentucky and splashin' on too much Aramis EdT
    Have a great weekend!

1969 was a good year if you drove a flamed Camaro with houndstooth seats and sported a Seiko. Color coordination was a thing then too.

    One week without a shave.
One week without my morning ritual.
One week of not posting on this thread.

    Sure you did.
With a week's worth of growth, I was tempted to use a straight razor or my 2011 R41.
Instead, I stuck with my focus, my first, real shaving "set".
Brush/razor/stand having resided with my son for the last 5 years.
Sadly...or not, he has chosen another shaving "path".
Now the Merkur 180 a.k.a. 23C has a very small blade gap.
I really challenged it with so much to remove.
Second shave with the Sharp Star. BTW, I am still waiting on my last Russian blade delivery,
albeit from Bulgaria, ordered on February 13:

The soap choice is important with my focus-brush. The Parker, while pretty soft, doesn't
have a great deal of backbone, so hard soaps are out.
It did, however, has great success creating this gorgeous lather.
    Take a gander.

The photo really doesn't do justice to the shine of this lather.
I was very patient adding H2O, slowly is mos def© the key to creating a great lather.
The shave, itself, was completely uneventful. The SS blade is very smooth.
After finding the proper angle, keeping it was not an issue.
Three passes---including a 90˚ outside to inside pass on my neck...:shocked003:
left me with a true BBS; one which would pass the dreaded cotton ball test.
I have said in the past, that my neck hair grows almost parallel with my skin,
so daily shaves will NOT remove it, but with the length after 7 days...
    No problemo.
A healthy splash of the HA tonic and Primo has gone from

Awesome Alabama shave Chris. Hope you get rested up this weekend. Us Alabama boys need to have a meet up. We need to get Perry @PLAla on board and plan one. Take care.

Grade A shave, Jeff! There are soaps that do the fade on the back of the head. I only use them for face shaving.

Excellent shaves, Charlie! I come to the point that my VBBS/IBSS++ (visuall baby butt smooth/ in between DFS and BBS shave) are fine with me. I agree that it is nice to know that you can get a BBS shave anytime you want, but there really isn't a need for it. As long as we are happy with our shaves is what really matters. Have a fine day!
