    SUNDAY'S SHAVE

Razor - Gillette Red Tip Superspeed circa 1955-1960 (Re-plated in Satin-Nickel Finish and re-painted tip in Radiant Red color by Razor Emporium.)
    Blade - [IMG] *2nd shave
Shave Brush - Ever-Ready 1960's vintage (Polished and re-knotted with a synthetic 26mm Ubersoft II knot from Envyshave by Razor Emporium.)
Shave Stand by by Desire Metal Works
Mentholated Shave Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Aftershave - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Deodorant - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Fragrance - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice circa 1930's

***EDIT - Possibly the best shave I've had yet with the Red Tip. 2-pass + minor clean up. Zero irritation. 98% of my face is BBS with only a spot or two that could've used another few strokes of the razor. The Red Tip is aggressive, so I didn't want to chase the very minor spots and risk irritation. Very satisfied. I love the smell of PAA's Cold Spices. It's a better pairing match to the Early American Old Spice than the subsequent men's Old Spice version. Early American Old Spice was originally made for women, but seemed to be liked more by men so Shulton made the men's version, which, IMO smells nearly identical but with a slightly more rugged scent. Early American Old Spice, IMO, is the best Old Spice as it has an 'elegant' effect to it. But it unmistakably is more masculine-leaning than feminine. The spicy, ambery scent with a hint of rose. I think that's why the PAA version pairs better due to the hydrosol rose water in the aftershave. It tough for me to think that this scent was aimed at women because it's not feminine at all. It's an oriental spicy that I think is more fitting on a man.

  10. My Sunday morning shave is usually one of leisure and serenity. That did not happen today. It was a rather stressful event. So it was a rush job. But a good job. No cuts

Here is my arsenal for Sunday 8/3/20 .

Soap / TOBS Sandalwood soap in a wooden bowl

    Aftershave / Proraso Sandalwood

Brush / Semogue 730 Silvertip High Density

Ceramic Bowl / Omega Via Barberia

Have a great Sunday everyone. :eatdrink047:

Today, as you can easily see from the wonderful photo that I deigned to publish, there is a bright sun in a clear sky that would have made certain fragrances absolutely unusable: so I was pleased to use a British classic.

And now I'm handsome and fragrant, with desperation of the female population from the province and the surrounding area who can't please their eyes with the sight of me.

    Poor things...

I can never get enough of your well written reviews. Everyone of them is a true pleasure to read whether with a fresh cup of coffee in the morning or a 3 finger pour of Jameson 18 Year Irish Whiskey on my balcony enjoying a Jersey Shore sunset. Keep them coming.

    The straights are screaming Saturday.

The John Jay was an $18 antique shop rescue. My initial shave with this razor was a little needy. The Lovely Mrs Headroom was working today so I planned an edge touch up.

If someone had told me that one day I'd be using my thumbpad to evaluate the business end of a straight razor, I'd have laughed, yet here I am. Working only on a black ark with gun oil, I found after a full workout that a few trailing stokes to keen up this edge nice, followed by a some pasted balsa, then roo stropping. The thumbpad was good, and the shave test said I nailed it.

I find straights to be less aggressive throughout the progressive beard reduction, yet able to yield an equal finish that might be somewhat smoother. Very happy today.

Since dining out was planned for the Mrs. today, I chose the Et Tu combo from PAA. I absolutely love this scent which is claimed to be trued to the original Brut. The soap puffs a beautiful lather, and while the marketing says it is superior to a tallow soap, it is not as slick and carries a $$$ premium. It is not a re-buy for me. The Star Jelly is remarkable stuff that I super like. And, the scent of the splash is so good that I'm not really concerned if it's performance in skin care is lacking.

The Cremo Shave Stick face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #387 brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Jr. Bar Lather Catcher with a Vintage Gem Cutlery blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Sunday morning:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Shark day 2
    Stirling Sharp Dressed Man SS
    Bull Dog Moisturizer
    Max Disinfecting AS Splash

It’s been too long, in fact much too long since I’ve used my Sharp Dressed Man soap so I decided to pull it out this morning and I’m so glad that I did. Its scent is absolutely gorgeous - it’s a great copy of Creed’s Green Irish Tweed which is a fragrance that I love. I had lots of rich, super slick lather which felt great both during and after my shave. The Bull Dog moisturizer makes such a good balm, and the Max Disinfecting aftershave from Bulgaria smells very nice, it stings like hell for a second but then it gives a good soothing sensation. Three passes gave me a phenomenal BBS shave!

    Enjoy your Sunday my friends![IMG]

    March 8 SOTD:

    Razor: Tom White TAR
    Blade: Gillette Nacet
    Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket
    Lather: MWF
    Aftershave: The Veg
    Additional Care:
    Unrefined Shea Butter

I skipped yesterday, so I am only going to log two shaves with the brass TAR. I dialed it up to 4, which was the highest I had gone on the aluminum version, and was rewarded with a two pass BBS. Very smooth and easy. @twhite has definitely created a couple of excellent razors here. It is interesting between the two, as they shave similarly, but still differently. The Alumi-TAR is a bit milder with a little less blade feel, and the brass with the heft feels more aggressive. But, both are extremely smooth and comfortable. A bug thumbs up from me. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
