Trying to find more on it looks like it might say Taihei Shokai but I want to see if I can find out more about the razor, then I’ll post more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@DaltonGang Okay! Got it. I needed to ask my wife for help with reading the second group of Kanji because they were hard to see in the picture. The tang says, “泰平謹製” Taihei Kinsei (keen-say). The last two characters (Kinsei) mean, “Humbly made”. So it can mean on of two things 1) Made humbly with peace, or 2) Made Humbly by Taihei. There is a chance that Taihei was the name of the person making the blade . So you can decide if he put the sunrise between his name, or if he put the sunrise between peace . I prefer between peace, but that’s just me. I will post more if there is anything else I can find about it . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DERBY No.1000. K.M. 東京 "Extra Superlative Razor" I dug this out of the Japanese Razor Box, and noticed it hadn't been posted here. I stropped it up and down, and gave it a whirl. It is a fantastic shaving blade.
Let’s rock and roll then! First image, King Pelican 14s, favorites of mine Second, Manaslu M500 Yasuki Steel Third Tanifuji Spaldings Fourth Coral FBUs Fifth Hayashi 1072 - this is a small razor for trim work and was I believe, in a set with the 8000.
Tanifuji Command No. 68 by Yamaai Co., 13/16, half-hollow (same blank used in Spalding, MaxFli Gold, and No. 1) ::
First Diamond Hayashi 8000 sitting on the finishing hone Second Eiko Third Rugby 1076, this is the hollow Rugby, in spalted maple scales by Alfredo Fourth Cape 1000 in lava Kirinite Fifth Tanifuji Silver Steel in ivory and black horn
Okay, one last one for now. Really love the coffin design for this beauty — vintage ‘60s/‘70s possibly. Derby Aiku by Matsukura, 6/8+, half-hollow ::
Thanks @DaltonGang! Took me a few years in the hobby though before I realized what Glen said about the quality of Japanese razors was so very true, and now they dominate my rotation.
