Did some resto on this Iwasaki 33. There was some black rust on it so sanded it down.

I have got a lot of razors from the forums. Be it BB, SRP or FB.
The thing is, you have to move quickly once they show up. The last one wasn't even listed for sale but a friend of mine reached out to the guy that posted it and the razor was on it's way.

Here’s one I looked to find for a long while and probably paid too much for...the Hoshi Tombo 8000 6/8. Has a bit of pitting, the tail hits one scale as it swings though upon opening, but the geometry is perfect.

Beauty Mark! Is the 8000 the symmetrical or asymmetrical grind?

Should post my japanese straights here. The mitsuon 41 is a work in progress. It had a bit of rust on it and the scales were all scratched. I sanded the blade to 3500 grit wet sand and the scales to 7000 wet sand. Spine was a bit off so tried learning to even out a spine and took a lot off the spine. Now I need to send it to be honed because I dont want to make it worse.

First, King Pelican 27 French point half hollow, Second, Cape 500 and 1372, sort of a gentleman’s pair. The blades look identical to me.

Oh, yeah, that’s what I forgot to mention. It’s a symmetrical 1/4 hollow grind. Fairly hefty but in the smaller 6/8 size so fairly nimble with jimps top & bottom.

Thanks, Alex! I honed up that combo plus my test razor this morning. What fun that was, and a BBS shave was the reward. :)

Haven’t contributed to this one in a while, and I don’t think I saw these two razors in this thread yet.

First up is the Feather 2601
I guess this answers the question which is sharper a Feather blade or a straight? Yes. :)

The next one is from Ito Co. & Ltd, Tokyo... Inko 1500 razor

Inko is a parakeet, so you have this cute little tang stamp.

Got to go back and see if I missed anything.

I've always wanted to get a new Japanese straight razor as there's something to be said for their simple straight forward designs. But every time I convince myself to spend that kind of cash, I always lured away by the gaudy opulence of European razors.

How simple are you talking? Are you liking a Japanese copy of European style razors, or traditional Kamisori Japanese razors??

If I get a Japanese razor, it would probably be a Kamisori because it would definitely stand out in my collection. But I also looked at the Feathers that are essentially western style. But last time I went shopping on line, it happened again... I went with a French razor with a sword wielding horseman design in the blade, a funky zig-zag spine and fancy wood scales. Basically a case of "Oooh shiny!"
