Gem Contour, Gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 5
    GC.jpg

I adhered for the most part to the ride the cap and light pressure as the razor was intended to be used as. For something with little blade exposure this razor performed surprisingly well. Best shave I've ever had out of a Contour razor. It was a BBS finish though a short lived one unlike a more a aggressive razor which the BBS finish will last for a few more hours before the stubble starts poking through. As I stated before with the Micromatic Bullet tip razors, they are technique dependent to get the best shave out of them with enough passes.

The Tabac Shave Soap face-lathered well with the Semogue Owners Club brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Schick L1 with a Schick Proline blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Tabac ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Thanks Gary, Gillette Pure shave cream is OK but not much for scent IMO.

Blade: Gem Personna SS PTFE (2)

Gem Contour II, Gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 6
    GCII.jpg

Light pressure and cap riding technique. Best shave yet using this technique with these flat top style gem razors. Probably due to me becoming more familiar with shaving this way and starting to develop the muscle memory to maintain light pressure along all the pun intended Contours of my face. These are not the very best shaves I have gotten but for something this counter intuitive and mild the razors so far have performed well beyond expectations. I am going to test something else out and see if shaving this way with these razors extends the life of the blade. Usually I'd throw out the blade after 6 shaves but will keep going with it until something gives.

A rather pleasant Shave this morning , with what I have begun to regard as my favourite 1912. It was previously the Gem 1912 Junior but I have found that the modern Gem blade works tremendously well in this 1912 produced in the early 50s.

Blade is still good but there is definitely a drop off in performance from shave 6. Using the razor with light pressure and riding the cap you may not notice it feel wise but the end result is still acceptable. As long as I stick to this technique I can probably get another shave or 2 out of the blade if I want to. I don't so I'll be moving on to some other razors and keep working down existing blades loaded into razors before loading up more razors.
