I would say that "that is so wrong"; however, my stomach said hmmmmmmmm me want. Perhaps I should eat breakfast before getting on here.
Technically that is what you would call 'Frito pie', and (at least when I was in school) you could get it at just about any Texas high school football game concession stand. I think Sonic even offered it for a while.
Actually that is basically what they call a walking taco around here. They open a bag of fritos, pour in some chili or seasoned beef and then throw in cheese. Then the kids eat it out of the bag. speaking of coffee... I guess my coffee is gone because I haven't made any yet. Will have to remedy that!
That is probably why it is on the middle school lunch menu so often. Honestly, I think "walking taco" sounds a bit better than "frito pie"... maybe its from spending too much time around cow pies as a kid...

yes, it is still available at HS football games...at least here in NE Texas. and state fairs. and local fairs. parades. fund raisers. heck, I'm almost surprised there's not a Frito Pie machine next to the popcorn machine in all the banks around here! and Sonic does still have frito pies, AND they have a Frito pie wrap, which as you can guess is a frito pie in a tortilla - pretty good stuff walking taco, huh? I'm sure Rolls would have a field day with that colloquialism but, it is actually pretty clever from the resourcefulness perspective
