Thanks Gary! I can't believe in 15 months that I reached 300 open blade shaves. That comes to 20 open blade shaves every month. Wow!

Thanks Terry! It definitely is important to know that you have to account for different steels when honing and adjust accordingly.

That is a beauty of a set up, Terry! As you said earlier, Stirling anything is going to be a winner; however, you win just slightly more with the Sandalwood ;)

That is a very, very good idea--will do when I get to straights.

    That Silverloaf... so nice!

Out of curiosity: I've noticed that you gravitate towards the larger, 8/8 razors. Is this an aesthetic choice (they are rather unique, gorgeous razors after all), are they easier for you to shave with, easier to hone? I ask because, up until I started reading your posts, I rarely seemed to come across them.

Gentlemen, our church family has chosen to worship the Lord on-line today. There are several on-line platforms to choose from. Kathy and I joined the 9:15 a.m. service via YouTube live. We have additional services at 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. We'd be honored if you'd join us, and I think you'll be blessed and challenged as well. All times are Eastern Standard.

My intent here is to bless and not offend. Please accept my invitation in that regard.

    Now, back to shaving. :)

Took a few minutes to "de-granulize" my shave cream last evening.
I emptied the container into a small stainless bowl.
    Washed and dried the container.
Taking a household strainer, with a very small mesh, I pressed the product through the sieve with
    an egg spoon.
I probably sacrificed less than 5% of the product, but the results were worth it.
    Same soap as yesterday:

Nary a granule to be seen.
The real question is: Will they return?
As usual, the cream itself lathers very well, of that there can be no denying.

A new razor arrived yesterday in Primo's den:

    RazoRock Game Changer OC .84-P
First thing I noticed...after allowing it to soak in a Barbicide bath for about 30 minutes, was how heavy this razor is.
It's as heavy as my Barbasol Floating Head, which is much larger.
I really like the low-profile of the head. The machining is excellent and, quite frankly,
looks, to my eye, every bit as nice as a Wolfman...albeit 90% less expensive.
I am sure I will get comments about this statement, and I will openly admit, I have never
held a Wolfman, but seeing as I am on the list to purchase one, I am feeling quite
confident that that won't be happening.
Opened up a fresh Voskhod (LOVE the double-wrapper/no glue dots) and went to work.
The heft of the GC must be taken into account. I allowed the razor to do the work
and focussed on maintaining the angle and eschewing any pressure.
Very smooth; no dragging at all; not aggressive; quite efficient.
I read constantly of shavers who, using a Wolfman, get a BBS shave in one pass.
Honestly, I find that hyperbole and difficult to believe.
I did perform three passes and without chasing the baby on my neck, got a great shave.
Many BBS spots and just a few areas which chasing the baby is simply too risky.
Now that I have removed the accursed granules from the HA, I wonder if I should
pursue titancing my way through the tub...:signs002:

    2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 13

I enjoyed another super close and comfortable two-passer this morning. I worked on my chin and got it really smooth. I must have tree-topped a pimple on my cheek. I can feel something, but I can't see anything in my 10x mirror. If I'm having to look for problems at 10X, it must have been a pretty good shave.

Two shavette shaves in under 24 hours caused the alum to feel warm. I may try some one-passers over the next few days to let my epidermis production catch up with the recent removals. From this, I conclude that I'm still using too much pressure. Just wipe off the lather with the blade, Charlie.

I hope you all have fantastic Sunday!

While we still have 16 days of the month to go, I'm going to project TOP YES as our survey winner.
