It's an A+ shave in the grade book for you Tim! When you apply the skin stretching learned through straight shaving with DE shaving, it does immensely improve your safety shaves.

Initially I used the sticks for face lathering, but enjoy how easy they are to store, so I kept using them. To load, I just close my left hand around the top of the stick so nothing can dribble down, then take a brush to it with my right. Once loaded, I scrape the leftover soap on my left hand onto the brush, wet my hands and apply what's left to my face.

I hand lathered for a loooong time before using the bowl and still go back to it on occasion, but it's nice to have a bowl to put the brush and soap in.

 

Thanks Bill! Although 400 open blade shaves will eventually happen, I will be excited when I hit 500 and then 1,000 open blade shaves.

Thanks, James. The shave with a face full of granules is, for me anyway, unacceptable. So it was much more than for aesthetic reasons. If yours develops granules, perhaps you will be more tolerant than I.

I have...sadly, experience removing granules. The GC is a great razor. I got a great deal on a BST thread.
