Thanks Joe! I know you had some issues with the edge, but it still made me nostalgic. I also learned to hone on that Dovo Special. Recently I blunted and honed it to a completely fresh edge all the way down the bevel. For me I think it was needed to clear up all the previous honing issues I had caused while learning.

Good point, Jim. I feel that the obvious variances in the blades after using them for several days in a row, in similar razors, has me believing that it is the blades and not me. I have enough St. Pete’s Gillettes in bulk (Nacets, Astras, Polsilvers, PermaSharps) that I can safely say that I have never had this issue with any other brand or batch under the Russian Gillette label.
That being said, I am hoping that it was an issue particular to that tuck. New tuck next time.

Coming to a positive conclusion for BoS has been and IS a "work in progress". One thing I think is clear-can be used any time of the year.

 

Just looked it up- .68 w Halo handle is 108g. I can use it for bicep curls, I suppose...

Congrats on the SC, Evan! All the News are quality shavers in my books, but do have differences from model to model. Even the Goodwills with similar baseplates have significantly different top plates.

 

I'm no Chris Columbus(y' know, the fella who found America), but with more use of my Duke Cannon Co. shaving cream/tube, I think I can get more use of both Clubman(the original)and the Stephan Bay Rum aftershaves. The Duke is a barbershop formula. Good discovery!!

 

no shaves today, just enjoying a banana milkshake I made today. pretty good actually.

Great shave yesterday with the most unique razor I'll probably ever own.

Wholly Kaw is a great performer. Scent close to Brut.

The Mrs and I reconnected with the best man at our wedding and his wife. Greatest friend of my entire life. Had not seen each other in the last 10 years and picked up right where we left off. Goes back to dirt biking in our early teens. Fun!

The French Gustave Lalune delivered a face looking good as it ever dies these days.



Whipped up my St Patty's day celebratory meal. Corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots with a Hamm's Special Light.

Added a new twist to the meal French style. Thickened the juice with a roux and beef stock flavoring.

My youngest went crazy. Made all kind of food noises the whole meal. Said it was the best I'd ever done.
