Something obscure that probably only appeals to me, but with Halloween in six months I was thinking a line of scented soaps based on the classic black and white monster movies would be cool. At least there's a lot of possibilites. Boris (or maybe Victor): something with that petrichor/ozone note, suggesting electricity. And rot (kidding). Vetiver, maybe. Bela (or Vlad): smoky and deep...Lugosi reportedly like cigars...with leather and blood orange. Imagining something like Oland and Special Reserve and...something else. Lon Jr (or Talbot): a woody mossy chypere. Animal. Imhotep/Kharis: easy one, dry oriental spiceiness. Griffin: brightly fruity, as the Invisible Man was straight up insane, but an interesting guy. Erik (Phantom): classy florals with an undercurrent of something really green, almost dank (dungeons). Or maybe a leather base, I dunno. Creech: aqueous and also green. Think of a river in the Amazon jungle. Silly but I'd buy 'em.
Autumn: blend of earthy, slightly sweet notes suggesting fallen leaves, plus pumpkin (not spice), and a dash of menthol for that nip in the air.
I know Humphrey's has a series of Halloween themed soaps that I'd like to try. Nevermore is the one that really stands out to me--interesting scent profile and cool name. Zombie Farts... not so much. I think Creech would be pretty boss! When I was a kid, my dad would wake me up so we could watch The Creature of the Black Lagoon movies on late night tv. Good times.
Great old movie. I used to watch it too! The soap needs to have a hot stale water stench, with top notes of sea weed & slimy monster. Even higher notes of girl screaming.
'Zilla! I'll do this one in the form of a Haiku: Ocean. Smoke/ozone Blended in--hint of cherry Blossom weaved throughout. Cue Blue Oyster Cult...
KONG: as musky foguere, like a huge sweaty beast strolling through the jungle, with vetiver and subtle florals at the top in honor of Fay Wray.
