    2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 17

I returned to my normal two plus routine and enjoyed a DFS and very comfortable overall shave this morning. My cheeks would make any baby sick with envy. My chin could be closer, but I elected not to excessively buff it and risk an otherwise fine shave. I choose to work on my technique rather than rely on too much buffing. In my opinion, one of the keys to a good shave is knowing when to stop shaving. Using a Feather blade in the shavette is no big deal. A shavette deserves respect regardless of blade choice.

Mike's Natural Soap is another "top 5" soap. Performance is outstanding, and Mike uses first-rate ingredients. I also like his choice of simple packaging. The LE brush loaded easily and worked up a creamy, slick lather in nothing flat. I've had this puck for awhile, so the lavender scent is faint. Mike's has a characteristic ingredient scent that I don't mind. This one definitely qualifies for a re-buy.

Neither the alum nor Helga sang after the shave was complete. I've almost finished my barbershop sized bottle of Floid Vigoroso. I now more liberally apply my aftershaves, and this really showcases the menthol effect of the Vigoroso. I've enjoyed having it in my den, but it won't be a re-buy. I tend to prefer darker or cool-weather scents which are typical of bay rum or tobacco flower scented aftershaves. I also don't see myself buying another large container of aftershave, either. The Floid bottle can be slippery, and it would not be a good day in my house if I broke it on the tile floor.

All things considered, this was a fantastic shave. I've really enjoyed using the Parker SRX. It's fun to use, and mastery is within reach of anyone willing to invest the effort.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Jumping back in. Incredibly saturated with over commitment to work in late February, time left was family & sleep. Not much image/posting/browsing time. Work came to a screeching halt this past week. I'll refocus to some house projects and TSD/30DC posting during social distancing while events are what they are.

I did notice that March had a few 30DC'rs with a shavette theme, and so I've used the Feather AC DX ~10 times this month so far. Other shaves were with a Gillette Old Type, or with my Rex Ambassador. My den hasn't seen any new purchases (a rarity for me!).

Feather AC DX - Kamisori Style
Ever Ready 100 w/synthetic flat top

Everything worked wonderfully this morning, 2 passes with neck touch ups resulting in a DFS+. No shenanigans to report. The brush is a restored ER 100 with a synthetic flat top knot (brush courtesy of the 2020 TSD traveling box round 1).

Hope everyone is doing well, staying well, and has a great Saturday!

Glad to hear Jason. I do see you picked up a CT while I was off the boards. I'll visit the CT thread to read up on the details.
Very good news Joe! I'll reread your post to pick out the nuggets. I did see Chris gave the Opening Statement rather than Neil. That's the way The 30 Day Crew rolls - The players may change but the game stays the same.

Another week in the books and spring has sprung. We have daffodils up and wintery skies.

Two passes and a bit of touch up was all that was required for a DFS+++ shave.
Large, palm-full of the HA tonic and we're off to the races.

Hey timababaluka... Guess you jumped into The 30DC while I was taking a TSD break. In keeping with the First Name Basis tradition around here - I'm Rick. Please tell me your name so I don't have to type that long arse forum name again? And don't let that MOD tag spook you. What happens in The 30DC stays in The 30Day thread.

Oh, and Whipped Dog straights are a great way to dip your toes in the open blade water. How did your mom find them? She must be good with the Googles, or someone tipped her off. I own a couple of his Sight Unseens. They don't see much use these days. While learning to use a SR got me into wet shaving, honing and maintenance isn't my thing (yet?). I do enjoy an occasional shavette use, but the new or vintage DE's and Schick SE's are my current go to razors.

After a few other folks were blessed with CTs, @wristwatchb and @BaylorGator made it a bit of a goal to get one for me. Charlie threw a few against the wall that didn't stick, this one did. I might have poked the bear a bit during the lengthy process...

Great photo and entertaining write up as always, Joseph. Yup, it is fantastic to see some of our friends posting again. @Screwtape popped in for a day a few weeks ago, and some of the very regulars haven't been on in a few days for sure. Understandable, for sure. I've reached out to a few folks to make sure they are doing ok. These are strange times, my friend.

Thanks Keith! Good to be around again. That Firefox bookmark & Tapatalk icon kept looking at me with puppy dog eyes. Absence made my heart grow fonder, but it took a little while. I hope you and yours are doing OK. Still in S.K? Is The 'Rona an acceptable subject here in The 30 Day thread?
