Wonderful Wiliams shave, Jim! I was wondering do you bowl lather or face lather the Williams? I think bowl lathering may be the key to the Williams disappearing act. Now that I have a makeshift bowl, I may try it to see if it works. But then again, it may not work.

 

Fantastic shave, photo, and report--all those blues and whites!

Super excited to hear the next base plate is working so well. I've never used Williams, but considering your experience this morning, I find it kind of ironic that the packaging says, "For a lasting lather."

 

Mastro Livi straights and strops are supposed to be top notch. Awesome shave Keith!

I bloom and bowl lather Williams. I load the brush with all it can take and rub the puck on the bottom of the bowl for an additional layer of soap. I then use the reserved bloom water to hydrate the lather. This technique has worked for me several times in the past. I have extremely hard water, that's why I'm wondering if the water softener needs maintenance.

Straight Razor Shave #151

It's been awhile since I broke out a traditional straight razor so I thought what better time to do so since I am not working.
I bowl lathered the Stirling Bay Rum. I notice that the lather is more creamierbut not as voluminous as compared to a face lather. It may be that I am loading the brush with less soap. However, the lather was still slick and thick enough for me to shave. Two and a half passes gave me an IBSS+ without any blood loss and some very minor irritation. Applied the aftershave and balm to finish this nice shave. Have a great day guys!
