    I'll have to have a good long look at Camping Out-as I say, of the two, Padre Island looks the better to me. But you never know. But that was a chemically clever question, Prof. Trigger. :)

    I'm attaching this Old Type to the NEW focus. It came back from Evan's beauty salon with the NEW LC and the New Improved he did for me. This one isn't in the perfect condition the other two are, but was also way further from perfect when it was sent. @MrEE did a great job and it looks pretty good for a 100 year old shaver. It does have one chipped tooth, but has had since I found it in an antique store 3 years ago. Can't remember what I paid exactly, but $15 Cdn or so sounds about right. I also had a single ring, but I piffed that to Daniel in Finland last year...he then promptly dropped off the thread, but I'm hoping he likes the shaves from that old beaut. I found no difference in the head geometry and shave between that Single Ring and this Ball End. Deferred to keeping the Canuck razor.
    Anyway, whipped up a great lather and this scent is fast becoming a fave. One of Stirling's best original scents, imho. Very much a damp, woodsy, earthy vibe. It is well-named. The splash came from the Stirling Gift Certificate kindly donated by @Primotenore at the last raffle. 3 passes later I am completely smooth. What would @Keithmax say? Epic.
    Have a great day all.

    TOBS Sandalwood~~Simpson Astor~~DD Goldedge~~SBST
    Here we are, in the midst of a flu pandemic; many of us stuck at
    home; some of us still at work;
    ALL of us wishing health and safety to each other in these difficult times.
    Today, we see some new shave gear, one of which was heretofore unknown to me,
    Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cream.
    I mentioned that my son brought me this tub, but I am not sure where it originated.
    It is possible, that I bought it for him, but cannot recall.
    I do know that I have never used any TOBS product since my return to traditional shaving.
    The consistency of this cream reminds me of gelatinized lemon curd. Not the scent, but the texture.
    I should also like to get this out of the way, there are no granules.
    I took a finger full and smeared it onto the bottom of my Aesop SS bowl and
    went at it with my Simpson Astor.
    So, it's behaving similarly to other creams; smoothing out, but not yet increasing it volume.
    I then proceeded to destroy it when I dipped the brush into my water and turned the paste
    into an airy, watery mess. Now what...:signs002:
    I knew I was going to have to add more product, so I made the decision to abandon ship and dump this load.
    Started from the beginning and this time took care to add the water very slowly.
    This lather took quite a while to create:

    [IMG]
    It has an airy appearance, and while it lacks the density of HA, it more than made up for it in slickness.
    I have never agreed with the British's idea of sandalwood and TOBS is no exception.
    The scent has a synthetic tone, very similar to DR Harris' sandalwood.
    Side note: The Brits can't get Bay Rum right either.
    The scent isn't unpleasant in any way, just not my idea of what sandalwood should smell like.
    For those interested in Primo's sandalwood choices, you should take a look at Salter's Indian Sandalwood,
    Eufros Sandalo and for a TRULY authentic sandalwood post shave product, the epitome is Meehans.
    Unfortunately, the latter has become quite expensive.
    The razor today is a Dubl Duck Goldedge. I forgot how large the blade is and it makes for quite
    a challenge maneuvering around the nose and mouth.
    I took my time; was focussed on the set down and kept the angle shallow.
    DFS+++ results.
    Aftershave choice was the Derby City Winter Reserve.
    I just may titanic my way though this software, just because I like finishing up product.

    My Throwback Thursday selection for this week was a repeat of Gillette Foamy Original(1949) followed by Clubman Special Reserve Whiskey Woods(1830). I bet you're already saying "1830 was NOT the year Whiskey Woods originated". Ahhhh, technically you are correct, but I once again present my "Twisted Logic" by stating that were there no Edouard Pinaud around in 1830 to kick off what would become Clubman Pinaud, we would not have the Clubman Reserve products around today that we love(well, I do, anyway.).
