On a completely different note, I was thinking about something today... what if lumberjacks used beavers instead of chainsaws to cut down trees. You know... hold 'em the same way you'd hold a chainsaw. I bet it would be a funny sight.

Morning, folks.

Sorry for the unannounced departure last night. I fell asleep at my computer and somehow ended up asleep in my bed.

 

Anyone mind if I vent a bit? I will make it a spoiler, feel free to ignore it.

So last week, I had lots to do at work. Monday I took off to bring my father in law back from the hospital, but still managed to get 65 hours in in the 6 remaining days. I am exhausted. Then yesterday on the way to work, I take a left turn, all of a sudden my car revs as if I have the clutch in. My heart sinks. I saw this before with a previous car. The transmission is dead. I continue coasting until the car comes to a stop. Put it in park, then try again. Just revs. I look for a safe place to park, nothing near by. Narrow road and I am pretty much blocking the entire road. I put the car in reverse, it actually works. It's going to be a good day. I carefully drive backwards looking for an open space. After a block and a half I find a "safe place" Parked on a bridge. Yeah, on a bridge, I know it isn't legal, but I also think it is illegal to drive around town in reverse, and at least this is a parking violation instead of a moving violation. I call AAA and wait an hour and a half for the tow truck. I grab the car seat and walk home.
Last Friday, I sold our old car. No spare car, but I do have a 2 seater Ranger. I turn off the passenger air bag and start to put the car seat in. I know that sitting in the front seat is not a good thing, but I had no other choice. I swing the top tether over the headrest (non removable) and it does not reach the anchor point. I drive to the Ford dealership to ask advice. they "can't help, because of liability reasons." I call the car seat manufacturer, "that seat may not work in your vehicle." Finally I put it in rear facing. It worked, short term answer anyway.
Back to the broken car, I get a call from the mechanic. I can get a "recertified transmission" for $3000, or I can get one with 100,000 miles and no warranty for $1800. The car books at $1800. I call around to salvage and parts lots, top offer of $150 to crush it in to a cube. What a shame.
Anyway, if they are going to crush it anyway, I am guessing they wouldn't care if I cut out the seat belts, so if anyone wants them, shoot me a PM.
One thing that might be interesting to add to this is that I recently switched medical insurance companies, went to refill my prescriptions and they said that they want me to try some cheaper alternatives first, so I have to see my doctor before they will fill them. Oh, and these cheaper alternitives are the ones I had to try for the last insurance company that didn't work. So I am now running 5 days with no sleeping pills or anti-depressants. Woo hoo.
Thanks for lettiing me vent. I needed it.

edit: oh, and I went to order from TSD store and found out my paypal account has been limited because I placed an order from the hospital when my Father in Law was there and they don't think it was me.
