    2020 Shavette Focus Shave # 21

Two days of growth, two-plus passes, and a DFS+ overall result. No blood or irritation, and the alum was quiet. I'll take it.

For obvious reasons, none of us will ever forget March 2020. March Madness, in many ways, has proved to be a welcome distraction from reality. This is one of the few places I visit where the generosity, acceptance, encouragement, and help flows so freely. I'll always value the friendships I've made here. A few wingnuts and troublemakers persist, and you know who you are. ;)

I've completed 21 shaves using a Parker SRX shavette (a fantastic tool) since February 22. The shaves have generally been DFS or better, and my confidence continues to increase. I'm working on some new maneuvers and grips, and I continue to make baby-step improvements. I really appreciate my friends here offering suggestions and tips that help me learn. I've enjoyed watching my 30 DC brothers have fun, improve their techniques, and show off their new gear. Great job, everyone.

See you next month, gentlemen. Tomorrow is April Fool's Day, right? ;)

  7. Awesome report and recap, Charlie! Don't quite know what this group would be without you.

It's been a pleasure and a privilege battling the dogged attacks made by Helga this month--dare I say it? She appears to be suffering an acute attack of laryngitis ;)
  8. Thank you, Jim--it's been a wild month, no? :)

  9. Thank you, Clint. Support for this shavette noob has been tremendous :D
  10. I agree, it is an iconic razor. Mine definitely lives up to the reputation, some excellent steel.

  12. Thanks Tim! I always have said to respect the tool, but not fear it. From day one, I started out embracing shavette shaving and that positive attitude gave this klutzy guy outside of the Chem lab, the diligence to continue to learn how to shave with an open blade razor. You have the same spark and that is why you are doing so well and having fun.
  13. Charlie, it's another awesome shave for you! After this focus, you will have another shaviing alternative anytime you desire and that's always a good thing!

  14. Yes and although mine is a 7/8, I am still in awe of you 8/8 lady!

  15. Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate the good words.
Thanks Tim. If you'd be so kind as to keep tabs on Helga again in April...

    March 31 SOTD:

    Razor: Razorock SS Lupo
    Blade: Gillette Nacet
    Brush: PAA Starcraft
    Lather: Tabac
    Aftershave: Tabac

One final shave in March, and I did use some Tabac. Two passes, and I have a nice DFS. It feels good to have a smooth face again. I'll try to be better in April, but I already know I a home for the whole month. I hope everyone has been doing well.
  18. Gentlemen, let's stop posting new stuff on this thread and wrap our replies.

Thanks for being a part of our group.

New thread is up and will be unlocked in an hour or two.

    Love you guys.
  19. Nice finish to the month, Jim!
  20. I used Webex more than I care to admit when I worked. This was my life for awhile.

Thankfully, few of us ever used our cameras.

    What comes around, goes around...

Our weekend group will start meeting using Zoom on Sunday. I created a Zoom account (looks a lot like Webex, as I recall) and tested my computer camera for the first time. If I use a blank wall as a background, I'll throw up a beach photo in Zoom.

Our doc's office called yesterday to replace our in-office appointment next week with a tele-visit. I enabled the VidyoWebConnector extension in Chrome, checked the camera again for good measure, and we're all set. We'll miss his hugs, though.

    That's a great idea, Joe!
