Several Rex Ambassador users here. What worked for me to get to zero irritation with the RA, was twofold. 'Ride the Cap' and what I call 'Negative Pressure'. The Ambassador is heavy, like muscled Bigfoot beast heavy. To me, it feels like I'm almost holding the weight of the Ambassador off my face, while barely allowing the cap/blade to touch down and swipe lather away. I usually do the first pass at the higher end of range, then dial it down for the 2nd pass, then even at 1 if buffing is needed.

That being said, there were some RAs manufactured that had alignment issues. @jgreenepa just went through an issue with his RA, but it was sent in & remedied I believe. Razor Emporium, from things I've seen posted here and B&B, will work/fix the issue if that's what is going on.

Try changing the lighting in your office. Adding some shadow or changing the angle of the light might just make you look like you shaved without shaving!

Stop with the technical terms already! There are newbies about! ;)

Geez, perhaps I should buy the Home On The Range soon, as "Smitty" might toss it out to make room for something new.

The Feather SS, for me, requires a bit more angle in order to overcome the "safety lip" on the razor. DX, Kai, CJB, I probably use about a 25-30 degree angle. Not flat against my face but not as much angle as the SS either. I'm not sure I'd say it's a 45 degree angle on the SS, but it may be close.

I made the brilliant purchase 5 years ago of a 12 pack of Arko. You know, because I wouldn't want to run out in just a year. Well, I still have 10 of those. When Chris @Bama Samurai did his focus on how many shaves a stick produced and ended up with around 160 before giving up with just a bit left on the stick, that quickly told me that, even if I shaved exclusively with Arko, I currently have roughly 5 years worth. The way I really use it, I'm sure I'll be willing it to some lucky member when I die in 30 years or so.

Informative report, James. Sorry to hear the blade didn't work out for you.

I'm actually going to be using a Silver Blue for the first time later on today. I was so excited to try it that I loaded it up yesterday in anticipation of the event :D

I always get excited about new blades, hoping they might provide that didn't-even-feel-the-blade-was-there moment. They never do. Inevitably, they are serviceable blades (some more so than others), but nothing that rewrites my shave experience. My prediction for the GSB's is that they will be great blades, but not magic. ;)

Good afternoon guys! I wasn't going to shave my under 30 hr stubble (actually 26 hrs), but I just wanted some shave therapy.
    Gillette Slim N4
    Rockwell Blade (?)
    Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush
    Proraso Green SS and AS
    Nivea ASB not pictured
Did a nice face lather with the Proraso. I really like this clean, fresh, lightly mentholated soap. I just did 2 passes without touchups for an IBSS+ shave. No mishaps were present during the shave. Finished the shave in the usual manner. Tomorrow will be a no shave day, but Favorite Friday is in 2 days. Since Keith and Blair brought out their Friodurs this week, I decided that I will be shaving with my Friodur on Favorite Friday. Have a great day guys! 20200401_121248.jpg 20200401_121248.jpg

I'm looking forward to reading your report! I've had a lot of success with Astra SP and Gillette 7 o'clock Yellows, and they are made in the same factory!

Yep, I just recently got my Rex back from RE and they replaced the top cap. Now I'm just working on dialing it in.

A shower is almost a necessity here.
I didn't know how much it changed it till I tried shaving it without a shower a few times.
Wish it was different, but I have a clue now what it takes to get ready.

    Thanks Jim!

    Thanks Clint!
My FB needed some Shave Love anyway.

    Hey Jeff! thanks!!
    Glad your feeling better.
Hope you keep getting better and better!!

    Thanks Tim!
I get a sample or two in the orders from Stirling.
I got an Executive Man sample last time, it's bath soap, but great scent.
l thought I was just about full up on Stirling soaps and scents, but that one is a winner.
Talk about enabling, Rod knows a lot about that.
    ;)
    well.....

    Thanks Joe!

I'll think about it Charlie, thanks!!

    oh.....
the big guy hasn't talked to me since I told him he could use a shave, and a shower!

Awesome! I've seen a few Ambassadors focused on in this thread, and the end results are always the same: dialed-in-and-loving-it. Can't recall a single one where folks didn't end up raving about that razor; even Jeff @jgreenepa (once he sent it back and got it repaired and working properly, that is ;))
