Beautiful photo (love the color matching) and awesome report. Good news, too. I love my sample of Cool, but have not got great lather from it. I'll try doubling the amount I usually use, then put a bit of water on it for a few minutes. Hopefully that works because I love the scent.

 

I apparently elicited a bit of a firestorm with my Fatboy comments! It’s just my opinion; many love the shaves they get from their Gillette Adjustables! I’m just not one of them!

 

They did under the name Avon Gentlemen’s Regiment in the 80’s. It’s if I’m not mistaken a tallow based soap.

 

CA glue is what I finish most resin handles with as well.

I agree, Joe! I was just expressing my opinion! I know many love their Gillette Adjustables, just not me. I do love my Shake Sharps! I have three - the Bakelite model 1.5, the nickel model 2 and the gold plated model 2. They are all great shavers! Glad you’re enjoying yours!

Looks like The Crew is back to being The Crew... and I'm back to being unable to keep up. 63 pages by the afternoon of the 3rd. Yup, we're back.

 

And if I recall correctly from a previous thread, SWMBO likes it--I'd wear used motor oil if it got the OK from the Missus

 

For periodic maintenance I use Cape Cod cloths. They're very mild so I don't worry about using them too often. I have used Flitz to polish and remove hard water spots. It's more aggressive than the Cape Cod Cloths so I only use it when the Cape Cod Cloths won't cut it. Something new I've been doing is applying a coat of Renaissance Wax. I haven't been using it long enough to have an opinion.

Great shave report, Jim! That CG Lvl 3 sounds like my 2011 R41. I need to maintain focus on technique, because if not, chomp chomp!

 

Thank you. I have been using Mother's Mag &Aluminum polish but it is sort of messy. I keep it around for the aluminum brush handles. I will give the Cape Cod Cloths a try. I have the Renaissance Wax already.

 

Mothers is my go to for antique razors in general. The amount of tarnish/gunk it gets off is remarkable. I've heard that I shouldn't use it on Silver, though. Only my Bostonian was Silver, however, and its since been replated.

very cool Jason.i use for structural/strong joints when model building among other things.i use the slow cure as well..good for plastic ford interior parts as well
