They don't call me Danger for nuthin'. Occasionally, I'll even have an after dinner mint before 4 pm. :shocked003:

A few years ago, I didn't know about it. A cashier gave me a soda and didn't charge me for it. The casbier assumed that I was a senior and that is how I found out. However, you have to ask for it or you don't get it. You buy the key tag for 2 dollars at the beginning of the year and you get the free frosty every time you show it. The money is used for the Dave Tbomas Foundation for Adoption.

I am not afraid of the Ice Cream Man Cometh because I will always be the Double Jedi Knight! Watch out because I will use my saber light sword to melt you and your ice cream.

    Adjusting to Adjustables
For those who followed my tests on the TAR pass around, you may recall me shaving with these instruments dialed to the minimum and finding good results with buffing only strokes.

Since I had never considered trying my other adjustables that way, I figured I would.

    First up, Parker Variant.
I have never even tried buffing strokes with this tool........miserable first pass.
Opened it up full. This usually works good, but left things still short at the end of 2. I need more practice to get my game back on with this tool, which is why we do focus' and rules in the 30DC. Picked up a shavette for the 3rd pass rescue. Yup, I do remember picking up the DE to back up the open blade, but not today.

I am thinking the high cap of this tool makes things harder dialed down.

Next up the Gillette Slim. Finished up well, but no better or worse than I could do wide open.

Used the same bowl, brush, soap, and aftershave on both shaves.

I believe I like the TAR much better at those low setting shaving parameters. For the tools shown, I prefer to use wide open.

Once again, I see Tom's razors as uniquely superior.

Saturday night and all is quiet. Everywhere. The new normal we've started to grow accustomed to. Or maybe not. But, it's a great opportunity to get another great shave on. Sticking with the QShave on 6 tonight with the Sharp Star. I broke out the hybrid knot set in mesquite to work the Arko into an absolute mess of a lather. Great lather and feel from this knot and I was all ready for the three pass smoothness that was the shave. No issues or blood so things are going just right. I'm baby smooth and ready for a hot night out on the town!! Oh.....wait......yeah. Well, I'm ready even if there isn't a hot night to be found!! Have a great Sunday!!

Sunday shave: Decided to go with my vintage Old Spice shaving soap, this stuff is a fantastic performer but sadly the scent is gone. The brush is Rudy Vey handle with a Shavemac DO1 knot, it has taken years before I could enjoy this knot. Now it is finally broken in or I adapted, good thing because I like the handle. The razor is 6/8 Hart Steel sporting a very sweet edge. The planets aligned and the shave was epic.

I hope everyone celebrating Passover or Easter gets to spend it with their loved ones.

Those are some lovely adjustables, Bill! :D

After shaving with a bunch of different razors, I had to relearn the Variant. You're right about that high cap on the Variant--wreaked havoc on me the first few times I started shaving with it again. It does give fantastic shaves, though, once it comes back to you. My sister loves the thing, and keeps it dialed in pretty low (I believe she said at '2').

Kind of glad I never got to spend time with the TAR--I imagine post TAR-dom depression is a very real thing :(

Dang it, Neal--now I want to borrow one of my boys' q-shaves! Great shave and report, sir. Hoping very much that I get similar results with the Slim tomorrow :D

Gorgeous set up, Keith--that brush handle really is lovely! Love the scales on that razor as well. Glad they all work together to shave as epic as they look :D

    The Shave...
Today was maybe the closest I've been to a no shave day in long time, but at 7:00 this evening I decided to throw a quick 1 pass shave together. No chasing, no focusing on missed spots, no buffing, just wipe lather off and call it good. Parts of me are CCS levels; to start a day like this would not be enough for me, but right before bed, and with a 3 pass Slim shave coming up tomorrow morning… I’m gooood!

What wasn’t good was the lather. I’m having the devil of a time trying to get anything other than fluff, and I played it super safe today. Overloaded the brush, very little water, and gradually added as I went. By the end of the shave (and it was a quick one), my lather had the consistency of dish-washing suds--fluffy and dry. I’ve got two or three shaves left , but I’m not terribly tempted to use them. It smells so nice, though, that I’ll try it one more time (perhaps tomorrow… get back on that horse, so to speak).

Looking forward to tomorrow’s Slim Jim Easter shave, and maybe some baby catching. Stranger things have happened

    Enjoy your Saturday night, everyone!

    39 down, 61 to go!
