Wow, that brings back memories, Neal. You, @Bama Samurai, and Vault Boy were still pups in those days.

Thanks! I feel like I have a brief window where I can get away with more than usual.

:) Thanks Joseph. Judging from the other CT's out there, I thought slightly uncomfortable humor was safe... Guess I hadn't dealt with @BaylorGator before.
Thanks Jeff! I figured it was a good Menthol Monday shave soap.
Thanks Brit. If you're providing Tech Support, as your avatar suggests, perhaps you can help Terry.
Thanks Tim! I'm really hoping Keith's sense of humor is as good as his sense of style. ;)

Thanks for making this fun everyone.

No worries, Gary. A few beers later, somebody brought out a Flowbee, and well....

Thank you Evan! I have been very blessed with every straight that I have purchased. I enjoy every one of them!

Yes, I'm in the same boat. Work still consumes my thoughts most of the day. I get into "flow" a lot, where I just concentrate on what I'm doing and before I know it the day is over without thinking of much else. I complain about having a lot to do, but I enjoy it and I'm even more thankful for that now.

Thanks Clint, but your blue CMon brush is also an eye popper!

No worries, James. @Bama Samurai's ride is a crimson Tesla pick up truck with Roll Tide plates. It's not your typical Bamacruisemobile.

    Arko Adjustable April

    April 13
    Razor - Soviet Consul
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg
    Soap - Russian Shave Cream
Brush - Stirling Two Band Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Time to shake things up a bit. It's Arko Adjustable April, but let's put the emphasis on "adjustable". Time to grab a Russian razor. The Consul is the best of the Russian adjustables I've found. Almost as comfortable as a Gillette. More aggressive but it works. And for something built over there.....that's a definite plus! I recently received a care package from Korea from Keith @Keithmax with a couple of Russian shaving creams. One was Start, which I've tried, and the other I haven't. Nor can I get a reliable translation on the name yet. But.....it's going to be put to a trial tonight. So. Russian razor, Russian shave cream. Definitely need the flagship Russian blade. Voskhod it is. Now. The brush. Well, I do have a really crappy Russian boar thingy they call a brush, but to give the shave cream a real try I went synthetic. I know, not quite a full on Russian thing but it's fair.

I have only used shave cream a few times in the 5 years I've been here. So figuring it out is a bit of a learning curve for me. I can honestly say that I ended up with a fairly thin lather but it worked. I think I can do better. I want to try it a few times to make sure I'm doing it right and the performance is on the cream, not on me. For tonight it worked well enough for two passes and touchups with the Consul and all was well. A bit of heat from the alum, but I suspect that was me being a bit heavy handed with the Consul wide open. Still, a fun and decent Russian shave all around.

Speaking of Russians - I hope you're all staying active during the quarantine so that you are staying physically fit! Natalia wanted to encourage everyone and sends her greetings.

That is a great set up, Neal--that razor looks a lot like a Slim to me. The cream also looks really nice. Natalia looks... scary... but what enforcer doesn't, right? ;)

You, sir, have a good eye. Yes, Natalia is scary. However, I was referring more to the razor. The Consul is a Soviet rip off of the Slim, so they do appear similar. The Ideal is the Soviet version of the Super Adjustable, but all silver instead of black. I'll pull it out this month too.
