April 13 Shavette Shave #40--"Jekyll & Hyde" Gear Razor: Max Headroom Focus R21 Blade: Personna Blue (1) Brush: Semogue Boar Soap: Stirling Glastonbury Menthol: Stirling Frost Drops AS: Pinaud Citrus Musk (1 Frost Drop) Balm: Stirling Glacial Unscented The Shave... Today was a great shave; however, while I only lathered once, it was at least a 2 pass shave. Yup… film revealed that, once again, I was double (sometimes triple) stroking shaved areas. The good news is that my pressure must be pretty on-point, because I didn’t suffer any irritation or razor burn. The bad news is that evidently 4 strokes into my shaves I become a mindless scraping machine. A real Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: the shaves all start with the sun shining and birds chirping and I’m so careful. Next thing I know I’m waking up in a different room, shavette in hand, blood all over my clothes, a slight case of razor burn, a DFS/CCS, and the shave police pounding at the door. It's insane But it's still fun! 40 down, 60 to go!
Nice shave Tim! Sometimes it's a fairytale. Sometimes it's a horror show. People seem to like both. When's the RomCom start?
Evan, it shares adjustment knob design with the Variant, but the head design is all French Cage head as Tom himself admitted in a post to me. It’s a wonderful shaver. I particularly like the infinite adjustment design built in. There is no click stop to the adjustment knob, just a smooth turn. I really like the brass razor. I have yet to shave with the aluminum TAR, but I suspect it will be a good shaver. Just not as good for me as the brass model because of the lighter weight.
I’m currently waiting for an envelope delivery. As soon as it arrives, I’ll get the blades off to you.
Late night Samurai report @jtface Feather Test Kickoff 13 April Day one is now history. Have a nice Tuesday.
Exposure and gap contribute to efficiency. Just blade gap on its own is a nonsense! The Fatip has no blade gap, but is still rather efficient!
I don't shave with the middle of the blade stock. (; Carry on, be well. I'm thinking 13-17 days will expend the blade.
April 14th Razor: H&S NO75 LE Blade: Astra SP (2) Brush: Stirling Finest badger Pre-shave: PAA The Cube Soap: PAA Cavendish PAA Galactic witch hazel PAA unscented Star Jelly AS: PAA Cavendish Good morning! Fantastic shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Nearly silent alum. After seeing Cavendish on the thread yesterday I had to go with it today. Wonderful scent! Have a great day!
Thanks, Jason. The only previous "Tech" experience was with a 1964. Good razor, but the handle was too small for my liking. Surprisingly aggressive. The USA Tech cleaned up really well.
