  1. Here's the plan for Throwback Thursday:

    prep-Dial 4 Men Bodywash(Max. Moisture)
    shave-The Soap Exchange(Lumberjack)**
    brush-Stoylin "li'l brudder" synthetic
    A.S.-AgadirMen(Oud Wood)*(also see below*****

    *Cooling Aftershave Tonic
    **Early to mid 19th century
****711 A.D. for "Oud" itself(thing's kinda been around).
  2. Gorgeous photo, Jim! Love the size of that knot!
  3. Don't laugh Jason! In my research, I remember seeing Stirling having a Sunflower seed soap. Obviously, it had to be at least 5 years ago.
  4. No Jason. I have had this brush well over a year. I sometimes smash the brush when loading and I know that I shouldn't be doing it. I'm sure that's the reason. Also, I don't pull the brush down when I dry it. I squeeze the excess, then shake it and finally use a criss cross pattern on a towel before I place it on a stand for 24 hrs.
  5. Thanks, Jeff!
While I was face lathering this morning I was thinking that the Maseto doesn't make it into the rotation often enough. Wonderful brush.
  6. Great shave, report and pic Jeff! Sorry that the aluminum Tar didn't give you a bell-ringing Winner Winner Chicken Dinner shave, but glad you switched to your new Hawk V3 razor to save the day. Congrats on the H V3!
  7. Thanks Clint!

  15. Tech Focus - Shave #2
Razor - English Flat Bottom Tech
    Blade - Astra SP (2)
    Brush - Yaqi Tuxedo
    Soap - TOBS Peppermint
After Shave - Proraso Green Balm

Second shave down. I just did a quick 2 passes today. XTG followed by ATG (second XTG on neck). It was a comfortable enough shave, but going ATG was actually a bit draggy. Certainly not as smooth as the R41.
I am smooth everywhere when I run my hand WTG. I am by no means smooth ATG in most areas. I know that I had the angle right because of the audio feedback. It just doesn't cut as close as I'm used to these days. I tried one small touch up pass on my jawline and improved things ever so slightly. I am not pushing it because I can't afford the irritation if I'm shaving daily.

I look clean and as well presented as I can look! :D

I'm hoping that I'll get somewhere near the smoothness I'm used to with my R41 and my Fatip by the end of the month!

I also notice that the smoothness only lasts about 8 hours. With the R41 it lasts 12-14. A huge difference!

Stay safe and enjoy your shaves gentlemen!
  16. Great tech shave James!
  17. fine shave James..good show..:)
  18. I'm hoping the quality of the finish will improve. The Tech just seems more like hard work than the R41!
  19. Thank you, Jeff. I completely agree.
The Tech and Super-Speed were THE razors designs of the 20th century.
Thanks, Clint. The Duke is a pleasure to wield.
    Nice shave, Jason.
    Lovely, Blair.
    Thank you, Gary.
Thanks, Joe. He is a real character.
  20. Interesting comments, James. Blade exposure is much less on the Techs. I think it is more difficult to "catch" the hair, especially when it's so short. Steeper angle, perhaps?
