  2. You are doing well with the CG Clint!. I hate when soaps are so light scented that I tend to say, "Why bother!"

  5. Thank you Joe....I looked in the mirror and said "I was doing so well....how did THEY get there???". I said that about the weepers and the astroturf on the right.

Interesting shave this morning. No problems with the results- the Jr did well and I am quite smooth after 3 passes. The lather was as good as always, but the brush decided to drop about 6 hairs today. This has never been a problem with this brush before. I did, however, neglect to soak the brush before I jumped in the shower. Gave it probably about a 1 minute soak before using it. That is quite rare for me and I am certain that is the first time with this brush, but that is the only thing I can think of.
TGIF, my friends. Have a great day all.
  9. Thanks Paul!
It isn't for a beginner or a lover of mild razors.
But it is a good shaver.
    Shame I can't find more.

  10. April Focus
    [IMG]
OK, had to take a short break from my Tech focus to perform a comparison shave with the just-arrived
    RazoRock .84 Jaws baseplate.
First, let's take a look at the two side by side:
    IMG_4363.jpg IMG_4362.jpg
You'll notice immediately the number of teeth and
    their spacing.
    12 vs. 9
The actual tooth 'thickness' appears to be exact, but I confess to having NOT measured.
Both are very nicely machined, high-quality, mos def©.
    So, how do they compare?
First off, I chose a very slick lather as my base (honestly, after all these years, there isn't a soap
in my shave den that ISN'T slick)
    Barrister and Mann Seville.
Big shout-out to Gus @Str8on2 who so graciously gave me this soap.
    :signs001:
The KH4 borderlines on floppy, but luckily doesn't cross the line.
It whipped up some terrific lather.
    Observe:

I turned my attention to the soap and from a distance I heard:
    "It's a me, Mario" :angry019:
AND, since it was "flying Mario", he was gone before I could do anything about it.
Side note: One of my greatest thrills was the first time I successful got Mario to fly.
    Those were the days...
    Now to the shave.
I decided to shave the right side of my face with the GC and the left with the Jaws.
Started with the GC, because I am familiar with that feel.
WTG pass, no issues, very smooth, as expected.
It should also be noted, that I used a Personna 74 blade.
Switched the baseplate, re-lathered the left side and shaved.
    :signs002:
    Felt exactly the same.
Keep in mind the blade gap is .84 with each baseplate, so the ONLY difference is
    the OC teeth spacing.
The feeling was exact with the XTG and ATG passes.
    So, what's the deal?
IMO, there is absolutely zero reason to own both baseplates.
My Jaws is now on a couple BST threads.
I should mention, they BOTH facilitate terrific shaves.
It really comes down to aesthetics, and nothing more.
  11. Thanks Clint!

    Beautiful pic Clint!!
That was a great post Paul !!!

Have a boar that also randomly sheds 2 or 3 hairs on rare occasions . It was a NOS brush so I chalked it up to that. I have a badger that loses 4 or 5 when I use it. That ...has me baffled.

I figured Mario would show up! Another great post Joseph !!

    Blade: Astra SP (2)
    Brush: 30DC LE V2
    Pre-shave: PAA The Cube
    Soap: CF Trade Winds
    PAA Galactic witch hazel
    PAA unscented Star Jelly
    AS: CF Trade Winds

    Good morning!

Fantastic shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Two operator induced weepers, one on each corner of my mouth.

CF Trade Winds up for today. Not much scent off the puck but the aftershave is terrific! Lovely spring and summer scent with a good kick of menthol.

    Have a great day!

  16. Sorry about the brush but great shave and picture, Jason!
    Another fun picture, Joseph!
I kinda figured that the only difference between the two was aesthetic. Thanks for confirming.
  17. Curious to hear what you think of the Bay Rum. I like it but my den is crowded with Bay Rums.

  18. Based on the length, Joseph, I suspect they broke off. That is why I think it was the insufficient soaking.
