Becoming one with the Luxor? Very cool, Patrick. Love that vintage shave stick tube as well. It deserves better than Arko...:)

Is that soap brand new, Angelo? I used to use C&E pucks for years and then they had a reformulation that I found unlatherable. I'd be interested to see if the quality is back.

Another razor I've never heard of. You really do have the most unique collection, Terry. Congrats!

TGIF, Clint! The soap sounds high quality, but I don't like hearing the scent just isn't there.

    Good morning guys!
    Favorite Friday Shave
    Straight Razor Shave #158
Wostenholm 15/16 Square Pt Near Wedge
    Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
    Razorock Classic SS
Old Spice P and G AS
    Nivea ASB not pictured
It's Favorite Friday and I get to choose one or more of my favorite shaving items. I chose the Wosty near wedge because it is my most prized razor, but I hardly use it. That's kind of ironic, but this razor works best with many days of growth and I don't let my stubble go that long before shaving. Ok, let me get on wity it. I also picked RR Classic because I love the marzipan scent and this soap is a favorite as well. The soap really produces a nice lather and today was no exception. The Semogue brush does a nice job, but it is such a lather hog that I have to maneuver it to get the soap out without squeezing the brush. I just hate when I have to do that while I am lathering. The Wosty did a great performance on my 48 hr whiskers and with 2 passes and a minor touchup was shy of a BBS Therefore, I rated this shave as an IBSS++ or a VBS shave. On tth fool's pass did get a weep on my left side of the moustache area and for some reason that's where I usually get them. However, this was an irritation free shave so that my face looked very good. Liberally applied the Old Spice aftershave and there wasn't any burn anywhere so that indicates that the shave was comfortable and supersmooth. Finished with the Nivea balm to keep my youthful appearance. Have a wonderful day guys! 20200416_194527.jpg 20200416_194527.jpg

This is my last shave with the Aluminum TAR. My shave today - 48 hrs after my first shave - was designed to see if longer whiskers would have any impact on the utility of this razor for me. The answer is no, even with a fresh Suneko blade, and even with my stalwart, MWF. I even fell back on PAA’s Preshave Soap. It’s clear to me that heavy razors are my preferred shaving tool.

The shave itself, after the first two passes (WTG, XTG) set on 6 and 4, was not going the way I like. So I removed the blade from the aluminum TAR and installed it into the brass model set on 4. What a difference! I realize Tom will never be producing these razors, but I would buy this brass model if it were available in a second! That third ATG pass did the trick. It sheared right through my whiskers, and left me with my desired BBS.

I understand how some of my predecessors on this pass around liked the aluminum model. My preference is clearly the brass model due to its weight. In fact, if I owned it, I know it would become my preferred adjustable. I really like the open comb head design and it’s weight which make shaving with it for me a joy! Not having to think about my tremors makes this razor a winner for me.

RAZOR: Aluminum TAR (passes 1&2) Brass TAR (pass 3)
    BLADE: Suneko(1)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by PAA’s Preshave Cube Soap
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite AS Splash followed by Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm

For awhile the shavette and I had a mixed relationship but we fixed that. I found the tube at an antique store for 10 bucks last summer and jumped all over it . I do have a nice Palmolive stick that could find a home in it .

    Thanks Blair!

Wow Joe ! You did not disappoint with that report . Well done Sir!!!

Tim @timabababaluka is putting on a few online writing courses in the near future. First topic will be incorporating limerics into shave reports .

    No I don't, Paul.
Old Spice is in the scent description but my nose doesn't pick it up at all.
