My wide body cap from Karve Shaving arrived a few days ago. Although I enjoyed my Tech shave yesterday, I wanted a DE shave with a heavier blade holder, and the Karve Christopher Bradley razor at 111 grams with the Wizamet Super Iridium blade fit the bill. I’ve always enjoyed this razor! It was the first modern artisan razor I purchased after 50 years of shaving with my trusty Schick Krona. My only gripe was the exposed blade tabs. Yes, I was one of those spazzes who unerringly would nick his ear with the exposed tabs every couple of shaves. As a result I stopped shaving with it as frequently as I used to, and as I accumulated more razors, the frequency of use diminished even more. With the new wide body cap, my gripe goes away.

For today’s shave I selected Sterling Obsidian soap and AS Splash. I normally shave the Karve with a D-OC baseplate. The look of the razor has changed eith the new top cap, but the shave is still as excellent as ever. This razor is definitely going back in the regular rotation. While not in the same weight class as the brass TAR, it still delivered my desired shave. The Jayaruh #343 Synthetic generated a great cooling Glacial Obsidian lather. The wonderful Anise smell reminded me of the delicious cookies my Italian grandmother used to make when I was a boy. The weight and balance of this razor in hand make its use a delight. That first WTG pass mowed my whiskers right down to the skin line. One more ATG clean-up pass was all she wrote, and as a friend of mine from Atlanta is fond of saying, “put the baby to bed”! The result was an effortless BBS that easily passes the cotton ball test. I feel clean, cool, smooth, and refreshed.

    RAZOR: Christopher Bradley w/ D-OC
BLADE: Vintage Polish Wizamet Super Iridium (1)
    PREP: Cold water rinse
    BRUSH: Jayaruh Synthetic #343
    SOAP: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Glacial Obsidian AS Splash. Finished with Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm

Really glad to hear the news, Joseph! My daughter-in-law is an intensive care nurse practitioner, and she said that only about 20% of those placed on ventilators make it! Your friend is quite fortunate!

Great shave, Keith. I haven’t smoked in 40 years, but used to smuggle Montecristos from Canada in those days! Great cigar. I’ve informed SWMBO that if I ever receive a terminal diagnosis, that will be one of my first purchases along with a fifth of 30 year old Oban.

Wolfman WR1-OC Ti (.74mm) with Triad Aristocrat Ti
    Feather
    Brad Sears Disco
    SV Manna di Sicilia
    Shave Soap & Aftershave

I have been enjoying a relaxing morning so I missed my self imposed noon deadline for a shower & shave. However, I needed the morning to chill and recoup. I decided to breakout my neglected Wolfman titanium WR1-OC for this week. Paired with a titanium Triad handle the razor is very light. The Brad Sears Disco loaded the SV Manna di Sicilia with ease. I added several drops of B&M Terrorade before face lathering. The wonderful scent and chill really added to the shave. Three passes and touch ups ended in a drama free BBS shave. A splash of the matching aftershave and I think I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Tech Focus - Shave #5
Razor - English Flat Bottom Tech
    Blade - Feather (1)
    Brush - Yaqi Tuxedo
    Soap - TOBS Peppermint
After Shave - Proraso Green Balm

So after spitting my dummy out about the feel of the Feather blade on its second shave, I decided to load up a fresh Feather today and have another go! The shave was much smoother and I got a decent result. I had to do quite a bit of work against the grain on my cheeks and chin today, but was rewarded with a DFS.

I don't think I'm going to carry on with the Tech... It's really a lot of hard work to get a high class of shave, especially when I have other razors that do it far more easily!

I'm going to bust out the MMOC/OCMM for my next shave. It hasn't had much love of late!

Stay safe and enjoy your shaves gentlemen!

Right, I suppose even if there's more than one, eh? It was a nice shave....Razorock soaps are pretty good.
