    1940 gold u.s prewar tech
    derby premium

    arko stick pressed in bowl
    duru limon cologne

good morning gents, monday shave, loaded the u,s gold tech with a derby premium blade..great smooth blades are these.loaded and face lathered the arko, lovely lather, near bbs in 2+ passes..no drama..just a nice and easy, simple shave..this tech is the original design from 1938,and 1940 was the only gold prewar type produced, after the war the design changed to what was the norm for another 20 or so years with minor styling changes-handles,insignias etc.only u.s and canada got this design, due to shortage of machinery.britain had the flat bottom tech, modified from the 7 oclock/flat bottom new design until 1948,then got the post war tooling as well.blade clamping is similar to the new long comb design, where as the post war tech baseplate mimics the new short comb.
finished off the shave with a splash of duru limon cologne..awesome..have a fine day everyone,,

    Good morning guys!
    It's a C-MONday today!
    Straight Razor Shave #160
    C-Mon P J Michels 5/8 Square Point
    C-Mon Heritage Collection Badger SHD
    Stirling Glastonbury SS and AS
Nivea Balm not pictured. This is the last vintage razor of my 7 that I have used in the first round. This razor is the little brother of my other and it is a tad sharper. I will be using my 6 non-vintage straights next month for Modern May. Everything went well except for a minor nick and weep that left no trace after styptic application. Two and one-half passes and IBSS++ shave. Finished the shave in the usual way. I know I kept it brief, but you guys deserve a rest from my babblings. Lol! Have a great day gentlemen! 20200419_170656.jpg 20200419_170656.jpg

    Proraso PS - Red
    Martin De Candre - Fougère
    Omega Evo
    Ralf Aust 6/8
    Thayer's WH - Lavender
Wholly Kaw AS - Fougère Bouquet

Quick catch up...Saturday was a skip day. Sunday was MdC/Omega/Wholly Kaw shown above, but using the Rex Ambassador loaded with a Gillette Silver Blue.

This week is fougère week. Hadn't given the MdC or the Ralf Aust their chance in rotation lately. The Evo made a very nice lather with the MdC, dense and slick. MdC lather, with DFW water and bowl lathering technique, is a little different than I'm used to...it's not yogurty per se, it's slightly airy....but still very thick & stiff like a well made whipped cream. Possibly could have added more water, but it looked & worked very well as it was (easy blade rinsing between swipes). Before the shave, the RA saw 40 CrOx laps followed by 20 bridle leather laps...was a smooth sharp shaver, quite a stiff blade feel for a full hollow grind, gives lots of audible feedback. 3 full passes, no issues, DFS+ result. For a nice long lasting face feel, a light application of Thayer's WH, followed with Wholly Kaw's Fougère Bouquet. This Fougère is a top favorite to my nose (and completely wifey approved!). It'll always be a repurchase.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Monday!

    Menthol Monday

    Razor: Parker Variant
    Blade: Astra SS (1)
Brush: @jtspartan resin and wood. 24mm hybrid knot
PS: Stirling Mentioned Preshave in shower and Proraso Green at the Sink.

I love Menthol Monday and I really enjoy using this bowl and brush Jason made for me. I know I have said it before but the Parker Variant is among my favorite adjustable razors. Stirling is top performer as always. This shave was a easy bloodless BBS.

Pleasant shave earlier this morning. Went with the Autumn Glory again as I'm working through some samples. Followed Gary and used a British TTO. This Omega isn't opening up as much as my others- I suspect a 1" hole is a millimetre or two too narrow.
Anyway, 3 passes and a little jawline touch up and I am quite smooth. A few drops of M Bomb in the palm helped turn the splash into 'menthol Monday' as well.
    Have a great day all.
