I guess I'm confused about the difference. I believe the one below is an SC. Am I wrong?

Yes I see. So in a cross section view, an LC base plate is flatter on the top? It also looks like the teeth droop down more.

happy to help sir..some say they shave differently, others not,and both have their loyal fans..these and the british ones are my favorite gillette shavers..the new lc,sc,and deluxe base plates are machined brass instead of stamped brass..last of an era..:)

Outstanding Gary! :) How does the hybrid tech compare shave wise to the rfb, fb new, & fb tech razors?

thank you Mike..the hybrid is very similar to the rfb, though the rfb allows a better shave with longer growth with the open comb on it's first pass..imo..it's the rfb's last hurrah as they tried to modernize it a little and plated it in rhodium.last of the machined base plates.the flat bottom new and tech base plates were stamped brass, not machined.cool razor in the history of brit gillette.don't sell your collection to acquire one shave wise.an rfb is as good or better.a mint set will go for hundreds of $$.mine is a decent razor with rough case i acquired from a friend who was upgrading .i wouldn't pay what they go for unless it was mint and you are an actual collector, not user..or one slips through the cracks for a flat bottom tech price..

    20200420_132002_edited.jpg tuesday tech focus #7
    1947 new/tech hybrid
    derby premium
    razorock barrel 24 finest badger
    ariana & evans asian pear

good morning gents, blew the dust off a rare brit, the new/tech hybrid.this razor is the last hurrah of the new rfb, modernised with a safety bar instead of an open comb and factory plated in rhodium.this is the last of the machined brass base plate 3 piece razors.the flat bottomed techs and news were stamped brass, reducing manufacturing costs.hard to find and pricey,i was lucky to acquire this from a friend and avoid the $200+ u.s price tags these sets can command.there have been a lucky few who scored them as mislabeled brit flat bottoms.
..loaded the derby premium blade.these are fantastic blades and i have 100 on the way..smooth and sharp.loaded the new to me/just arrived a and e asian pear with the barrel badger.fantastic lather, and got a fabulously smooth bbs in 2+ passes.asian pear aftershave to finish...awesome.fabulous scent, post shave feel and performance.a and e are definitely in my top shelf rotation..
have a fine day everyone.. 20200305_185210_edited_edited.jpg

    monday tech focus #6-turkish
    1940 gold u.s prewar tech
    derby premium
    omega boar
    arko stick pressed in bowl
    duru limon cologne

good morning gents, monday shave, loaded the u,s gold tech with a derby premium blade..great smooth blades are these.loaded and face lathered the arko, lovely lather, near bbs in 2+ passes..no drama..just a nice and easy, simple shave..this tech is the original design from 1938,and 1940 was the only gold prewar type produced, after the war the design changed to what was the norm for another 20 or so years with minor styling changes-handles,insignias etc.only u.s and canada got this design, due to shortage of machinery.britain had the flat bottom tech, modified from the 7 oclock/flat bottom new design until 1948,then got the post war tooling as well.blade clamping is similar to the new long comb design, where as the post war tech baseplate mimics the new short comb.
finished off the shave with a splash of duru limon cologne..awesome..have a fine day everyone,,
