    Love the B&W shot, Clint!
I have the T2 but you're making me want the T3. Maybe I'll order it from Simpson. Push my other brush along. Kinda like when the candy bar you just bought from the vending machine hangs up and you have to buy the one behind it.

I'll contact Simpson again next week if there is no movement. It's the Ruby synthetic so it's not like they have another on hand to send.

I like that reason to justify buying anything. I will put that on the shelf because I'm sure that I will need it one day! Seriously, it's a shame that your brush has not been received due to snail mail Jim. I am from NY and true to our reputation, I wouldn't be so patient. I would have to repent afterwards. Hope you get your brush soon.

    Thanks, Joe.
Right now I want the brush more than a refund so patience is the only option.

Well, a really nice shave this morning. As I've said, I might be at odds with Clyde Smitty( my pet name for theP.A. A. owner)- in terms of communication, style, that sort of thing*, but the man does put out a mighty fine shave soap. His Boomtown Bay Rum has become ONE with my Clubman Special Reserve aftershave. I almost felt good enough to stop after just one pass, but went ahead for the second. Two passes(as aforementioned), no cuts/weepers.No cloves in his Bay Rums(I think he has 2 others). THAT, I like. Great scent combination(West Indies B.R., Leather, and Gunpowder). Top Of The World Excellent.

ery time I compare myself to other Clyde Smittys, I need to stop and recall the lyrics(at least those I can remember)of a commercial the Red Sox put out in the early 60's.......

Geese are a big attraction to the apt./condo complex where I live..a complex of 9 bldgs., tennis court, pool. Just saw one laying new eggs a few days ago, so there will be more real soon.

My favorite DE razor, hands down, is my Colonial Silversmith. The only complaint I’ve ever seen has been about the original handle design that came with the razor, never anything about it’s shaving capability. It’s been variously described as “ugly”, “too short”, “unbalanced and dumpy-looking” and “slippery”.

Well, Colonial is nothing if not responsive to their customers. The new handle design is heavier, contains knurling, and is beautifully balanced in hand. I just received it yesterday, and love it! It gives an entirely new look to the Silversmith. The shave hasn’t changed, of course, but the razor feels better in the hand, and the increased weight is noticeable to me.

The shave itself was spectacular, as usual. A FB Shave Forum friend from down under who is also appreciative of levels of BBS shaves, is correct in classifying the closest BBS shave as “glass-like”. I agree. The BBS I receive from my best shaving DE, this razor, is great, but still does not quite measure up to the BBS delivered with a Feather Super by any of my three AC safety razors.

For this shave I loaded a DE Feather blade into the Silversmith with it’s new handle, and soaked my Jayaruh Rosewood Handled #378 Silvertip Badger brush in warm water while showering. My shave prep consisted in adding 6 drops of M-Bomb to my Lucky Tiger Liquid Shave Cream and my usual cold water rinse. The Lucky Tiger is great stuff, and always delivers a thick, protective lather.

The Silversmith sheared through my whiskers on that first WTG pass. The whisker reduction continued through the second XTG, and third ATG delivering the desired BBS. Maybe the difference between this DE shave and the BBS provided by a Feather Super blade is in that first pass. The whisker feel isn’t quite as smooth afterwards with the Silversmith and it’s Feather blade as opposed to the General, the Vector or the Hawk loaded with a Feather Super AC blade.

Maybe it’s just placebo effect, but a day after an AC shave I still retain an acceptable DFS, whereas with the DE it seems to be more in the CCS category. In any case, I prefer the new handle to the old, and feel clean, cool, smooth, and refreshed.

    RAZOR: Colonial Silversmith 316L SS
    BLADE: Feather (1)
    PREP: Cold water rinse
BRUSH: Jayaruh Rosewood Silvertip Badger #378
CREAM: Lucky Tiger Liquid Shave Cream
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite AS Splash. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum

    Good morning guys!
    G E Jones Shake Sharp
    2 Rockwell DE Blades (2)
    Jayaruh Silvertip Badger #386
    Stirling Sandalwood SS and AS
    Nivea ASB not pictured
The JR #386 did an awesome job picking up the soap and giving me a beautiful, shiney, lather. Sandalwood scent is a nice understated scent and really puts me in a relaxed mood. I picked the Shake Sharp because I primarily use it for headshaves, but I decided it needed to get familiar with my facial contours. 2 and a 1/2 passes and got BBS shave without irritation. Unfortunately, after 10+ shaves with this razor, very minor bloodshed (tiny weeps) appeared on my moustache area. This is the first time this has happened with this razor. So yes, I can cut myself with it, but not to the point where a real cut would be possible. Finished the shave in my usual manner. Have a great day guys! 20200422_233103.jpg 20200422_233103.jpg
