The urge to use a more "blade forward" razor was great this morning.
I have spent the better part of this month dabbling in the Gillette Tech.

While these razors are easy to use, get the job done, they don't allow for much
variation, regarding the angle. But, isn't that the aim of MOST DE razors?
Today's shave was a horse of a different color.
No room for error when you wield a straight.
Prep must be good. Edge must be waaaaaay more than good and, of course,
    technique must be spot on.
The Williams soap was a little selfish, giving up part of itself to the Simpson Milk Churn.
The knot is soft, but backbone is slightly below average, especially with a very hard soap.
Even with a bloom, I had to load much longer today, than I did with my boar brushes.
I was successful and the resulting lather was excellent.
The Swedish steel has a very keen edge, although I did choose
    to CrOx before stropping.
Two passes and some touch up and the results were excellent.
Once again I chose the Derby City aftershave.
    Have a great weekend.

Thanks, Jim! I agree! It was my fault. We usually play after I get up, but I opted to sneak in a shave. “The Grom” was just reminding me of priorities!

Great pic and corresponding shave report, Maestro! Do you ever shave with AC safety razors?

Great handle history lesson, Gary! I’m much the same way with my French razors. I’ve paired some of my Cage head razors with different top caps and handles! Makes all the difference in the world! You’re either a pure collector who would consider what we do anathema, or you’re a user/collector who shaves with his or her collected bits! The shave is what counts!

Lovely shave and pic with that scary-looking Kamisori! I shudder to think of the damage I’d do to myself with that device in my shaky old hands!

I haven't had a haircut since mid February. The mop on top of my head was driving me crazy. I talked my wife into trying her hand at hair cutting. It took quite some time and it's just a little crooked but I like it. She was nervous about it but I assured her it would grow back, it always does.

Well, here I am. My first ever selfie:

Gorgeous image, Jim! Part of the issue may be the OC in your Hawk vs the SB in mine. I much prefer the Super over the Feather Pro, along with the Schick Proline over the Feather Pro.

Just takes practice. Learn to strop first and practice now with a cheap strop and cheap razor every day until you start. Like DE, it’s about muscle memory and practice.

Thank you Charlie! Despite the slice that I got with it, it is truly a special piece. With my mask in place,I just went out for my 50 min walk and my 7-11 coffee. It is 61 degrees here in NY. I am doing well and thank the Lord that this virus has not physically hit me. So thanks for asking. How are you 2 doing being cooped up? I have been telling friends to sit out on their porch, or backyard to get some sun and fresh air. You guys are always in my prayers. Stay safe my brother.

Great shave report, Joe! It’s always interesting the way we imbue objects with sentiments! I’m the same way with my Schick Kronas and MWF or Barbasol, my gotos for many years! Enjoy your day, and stay safe!
