Thanks Joseph! I love classical music and always listen to the local NPR station that has it on M-F from 9-5 and Sundays is Baroque music. I am not an expert, but I am familiar with the famous composers and some not so famous ones. I listen to this music while I am driving to keep me sane and my blood pressure down.

Great shave report, Tim! Sounds more like very light scrapes rather than weeps. I’ve been following your progress with interest. You’ll be straight shaving in no time!

Understood, but be careful if the fatigue continues. According to my Doc, it can be one of the signs of Coronavirus.

Excellent shave Tim! It is good to see you increase your passes to the normal 3. Now is the time not to go backwards, but to go forward without looking back. Your shaves should continue to improve with 3 passes. Eventually, you will get too notch shaves of BBS or close to it when you can do 2 passes and an extra half pass to get the ultimate shave.

Great looking image and fabulous report, Joseph!

Another shave on the down slope Tim, cool read and report. Weepers that stop on their own = progress! Spectacular image today, love the DOF utilization!

Color coordination from disparate metals and finishes...extremely cool! Hopefully Tuesday goes better for ya Clint!

    Straight Shave #3
Razor: John Watts 6/8 & Fatip Grande
    Blade: Silver Star (3)
    Brush: Yaqi Tuxedo
Soap: Body Shop's Maca Root & Aloe
After Shave: Body Shop's Maca Root & Aloe

Despite my initial optimism regarding the sharpness of the blade. The shave test proved that it was not sharp enough to shave my beard efficiently, but as is always the way... I completed the first pass anyway. I only lost about a pint of blood from the 3 heavy nicks I gave myself from the tugging and jumping, but hey ho!

I re-lathered for the second pass and pulled out the ever-dependable Fatip Grande loaded with a Silver Star blade on its third outing. These blades are phenomenally smooth! If you haven't tried them, you owe it to yourself! After one XTG pass and a little bit of touch up I have a DFS and am excited for Straight Shave #4 after I have had a go at honing the damned things!

Stay safe and enjoy your shaves gentlemen!

Nice report James! It is all part of the learning process. Now, I am assuming that your bevel was set before you got the straight so that your lapping results would be very good. It also could be that your lather was not slick enough for your straight to properly glide. I am not with you to see what you did, but I gave 2 possible explanations. I am sure that you will figure it out. It's part of the fun of using straight razors.

The lather was the initial problem, so I went back and added a ton more water. This brought it to the desired slickness.
Both razors were honed using the 'Method' approach I believe, so the bevel should have been set. If the bevel has not been set, I do have some 30 micron film in my pack to set it anyway. I might do just that on my Geo!
Thank you for taking the time to help me through this part of the learning curve!

More likely dealing with too many nutty clients today had me mentally tired.

Thank you Blair. I see it now but I didn't plan it that way.

Just a very long day dealing with clients. I will be fine with a drink and dinner
