PIF's My phone does not recognize the Pay It Forward principle, but it will once I take a hammer to the confounded thing
The Jim's were difficult for me at first. Didn't help that my first month in the 30DC they were both doing a focus on PAA products, and both crank out exceptionally staged photos--I figured it out though
Awesome Satsuma Saturday Shave, Jim! Beautiful photo and fantastic line up as well. I don't know what it is about the drilled lather holes for the baseplate, but they're awesome and distinctive. I didn't know Stirling did a Glacial with Satsuma--gonna have to keep my eye out for that this summer

A first-rate shave is cheap. For 50 bucks, a Parker SRX, Omega 10049 boar brush, 100 Voskhod blades, and a three sticks of Arko will keep you baby smooth through the first year. Annual cost after that is $15 for blades and soap. It's the collecting, color-matching, scent-pairing, primping, preening, spiffing, fussing about, and of course the soap waste through granule straining and blooming that'll land you in the poor house...albeit smelling good and looking nice.
Very nice photo, Mark! I've been mightily impressed with the things I've heard about the General, and that brush handle is gorgeous
Thank you, Tim! The baseplate of the Apollo is very simple. It's basically a flat piece of metal with a single angle machined on each side with holes drilled into it. Simple but effective. Stunning, Mark! Love the brush! I ordered one just like it once upon a time.
I found the same on blades. Supply changed their blades and dispenser last fall. I find the new comparable to Chinese Schick in performance and price. Made in USA, presumably by the Personna folks. The Prolines rock!
May 2 Special Saturday Shave Good afternoon guys! It's been 30 hrs since my last shave which is the minimum time between shaves for me. I really didn't need to shave, but I did anyway. Straight Razor Shave #165 Ralph Aust 6/8 Spanish Pt Rockwell Synthetic Brush Music City Suds Lavender SS and AS Nivea ASB not pictured. The MCS lavender shave soap and the Rockwell brush are my favorite items. I like this Ralph Aust alot, but it isn't in my top 4. Anyway, I got a great lather with this brush and soap combo. That's were the goodness ends. Did 2 passes and the shave was only DFS/IBSS which I don't consider a good shave for my standards. It definitely would be considered excellent fr a newbie. It wasn't my technique, but it was that the razor was not sharp. The fool's pass was the determining factor because there was still some roughness after that pass. In fact, the neck area and the chin suffered similar fates. I didn't get any irritation, but got weep by my mouth due to the dullness of the blade. Oh well, there's always another shave. Finished in the usual manner. In conclusion, I am going to set this razor aside and will just hone it, instead of refreshing it with Crox. So it wasn't such a great Special Saturday shave. Have a good evening guys!
I have three packs of the old ones to use up. I seem to remember that get smoother after the first shave.
