Great shave and report, Evan. Wow, your own CNC Mill! Not a trivial expense! Looks like you’re putting it to good use! Great autostrop shave!
It has a very wide sweet spot, and is always a pleasure to shave with! If you’re enjoying the aluminum, you’ll love the SS. Not enabling here, , just making a factual comment, not fake news!
May 4th SOTD Good morning guys! Straight Shave #166 Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish Pt Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush Razorock Classic SS Old Spice P&G AS Nivea ASB Well this is a moment of truth shave with this razor. Saturday's shave was not so hot with it so I knew that it needed to be honed. Yesterday, I gave it a test of shaving the temple sides of 4 days growth and it was fantastic so I knew this razor was back in business. Before today's shave, I stropped the razor with 20 laps on the fabric and 40+ laps on the leather. I really didn't have to do it because I only test shaved with it and it wasn't too much shaving, but I decided it couldn't hurt to do so. The Omega and RR soap produced a nice lather and I was ready to start. I started the shave and at the end of the first pass, I was in awe. I could have stopped right there because it was a DFS +. The blade was easily taking a 40 hr stubble down like it was nothing. I didn't use any pressure on this blade and it was so enjoyable to use. The 2nd pass gave me an BBS-. At the last stroke, I caught a tiny weep doing a fool's pass. Oh well, it had to happen at the end of the shave. There wasn't any irritation at all. I didn't want to go full BBS on a final half pass because I am not going out on a date. Lol! Finished this shave with OS and Nivea. The shave was so smooth that there wasn't any stinging from the aftershave. This was my fourth honing on a razor and I am still shocked on how idiot proof it is to use lapping films. Have a nice day fellas!

Thanks Jim! I know that plenty of guys don't go into straight razor shaving because of stropping and honing. However, films make it very easy to hone a razor. Now, I am still a honing newbie, but it is nice to know that I can bring back a very sharp and smooth edge. One day, I may want to try to set a bevel on a blade and bring it back to shave ready. At that point, I would say that I can really hone a razor. But for now, all is right in my shaving world.
May Focus Williams~~Simpson~~Feather/Personna 74~~SBST This now empty bottle of SBST was generously given to me by Guy @ram57 Terrific juice, which I have enjoyed using. Thanks again, Guy. The preceding shave was lovely, employing the Feather AS-D2 with the much-used Personna 74 blade. Will I continue using the Williams? MAYbe. There remains a thin layer of soap at the bottom of the tub. As of today, there is no doughnut hole, but you can discern light, when holding the tub up against the sun. The secret to great lathers with triple-milled soaps is to USE them. They do NOT like to sit on the shelf, drying out. This especially true for MWF. Three passes, not chasing the baby, left me nice 'n smooth. The Small Batch Shave Tonic left me smelling great too. BTW, this juice received the coveted SWMBOSOA©
Wow! That brush looks like it was forged from a glacier--nice Menthol Monday choice Beautiful photo, Jim
