Wonderful shave and report, Joe! Love that Creamsicle Swirl Synthetic, and I don't think I've seen a Drew Dick razor that failed to impress me.

Out of curiosity, of the two grinds, half-hollow and quarter-hollow, which do you prefer?

 

I understand. I own 13 straights. I am happy with my collection, but there are 2 razors that I would like to add:
1. Filarmonica Novodur 14N. The prices on Fillys are outrageous.
2. Custom made straight like a Max Sprecher or a Mike Martinez. I need to hit a big windfall for it to happen. I might settle for a J3 custom.

 

You're getting low on the Menthol version...

 

I've tried Green and Red in the tube only. Stocked in my local drug store. Never tried the tubs, to be honest.

If Willie ever decided to shave, I bet he'd be a one razor guy. Probably a straight with nice wooden scales with maybe a few autographs and fingernail marks.

Thanks, Tim. It's very possible, but I have already mailed the empty bottle to a gentleman on another forum, who collects bottles. The new bottles come with a different cap and they include a large eye dropper to apply.

Interesting. The vintage menthol Williams have lost all signs of menthol, but not their subtle scent. A couple of drops of M-Bomb solves that issue. Also, the old menthol pucks command more money on ebay.

Thank you Jason. I have decided to just enjoy the brush and not worry about the handle. The doctor's visit was fine, except for the part where they stick a cotton swap up your brain through each nostril. I can't say it was painful but it was very uncomfortable.

Great shave yesterday with the Le Coq Cage Head and two stacked blades. I really enjoy shaving with a different razor every day. With my face and noggin practically healed, I decided to shave with my Eclipse Red Ring. I really enjoy this razor. It’s an incredibly efficient English design from the late twenties/early thirties, and always delivers a great shave. I decided to shave with Tabac since I’m out with the TR6 with some friends later, and hopefully the open air cockpit will help to dissipate the scent, so SWMBO doesn’t suffer.

The Eclipse Red Ring razor head design has been copied by modern artisans. Any owner of the Occam’s DE need merely compare the aggressive baseplate to the baseplate on the Red Ring. The Red Ring is a two piece design whereas the Occam’s is a three piece, but one immediately sees the similarity upon comparison. In any case the Red Ring is a highly efficient, some might say aggressive design, one I like a great deal, as it always delivers awesome shaves. This shave was exactly as expected! Two and a half (WTG, ATG, ATG) passes later I was in BBS land with some alum-revealed slight heat around the healing Adam’s Apple area, but otherwise cool, clean and refreshed on both dome and face. Great shave!

BRUSH: Rearden Razor 316L SS Synthetic
SOAP: Tabac
POSTSHAVE: Iced water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Royall Lyme AS/Cologne Splash. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum
