Thursday Shave: The last time I honed this Damascus Portland Razor Co razor it was not up to standard. Tuesday I had a honing session and refreshed her on a Shapton glass 8k the Gokyumo 20k followed by CrOx and FeO3 strops. Sometimes even a blind big finds an acorn, the edge was just fantastic feeling like velvet but laser sharp.

The boar focus continues with this wooden handle brush holding Omega Pro knot. This brush doesn't see a lot of action because it was set to deep for my liking and the handle has long crack. Some day I will transplant the knot into a new handle. Given how deep the knot is set I wanted to go with a hard soap so I went with some AoS tallow. The lather lived up to the reputation, very wet and slick.

    The shave....... Epic.

Monday I told advantage of the day off and went to Imjingak (임진각) which is 7km from the DMZ. On display was train engine that was destroyed during the war. I also have a current picture of the 'Freedom Bridge' now and a pic of pic of what it looked like right after the war.

That's so awesome that you were able to get that blade to your specs. I appreciate the historical background of that part of S. Korea. They are great photos of the gear and countryside.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my specs on when I read your post. I read it too quickly and my brain interpreted it incorrectly. Anyway, it s great news that your grrandmother fought and won. She is one tough lady!

Mine might, though--with rage. I envision a scenario where I spend all kinds of time trying to get the edge shave ready only to find that the thing bounces off butter ;)
