SOTD, Thur, May 07th 2020, Tried out a different ASR 1912(Everready) & they are very similar in appearance to the Gem 1912 but the angle set by the British is typical Everready is set 4 or 5 degrees different at least this model or was dropped accidentally. Gave a very similar shave to the Gem & maybe a little more aggressive? Handle looks like a chain link Gem 1912 but the Brits went one step further and raised the corners which creates a very nice grip IMO.(see picture below) Razor: Everready 1912 British variant- MFG 1936-53 for commonwealth nations world wide.(Marketing strategy) Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (2) Soap: Razorock Amici - nice mild scent of citris(grapefruit) with good lather qualities. Brush: Yaqi tuxedo knot 24 mm "Sagrada Familia" very easy brush to lather with. Pre shave: brush wash my face with CeraVe hand bar soap + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the beard area. Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 3. Post shave: Alum + cold water rinse after 30-60 seconds Post shave: Razorock Amici with witch Hazel + a small dollop of Nivea men sensitive balm. Results : CCS,DFS,BBs + alum indicated minor irritation + 3 tiny chin weepers(operator error)= great shave! Have some great shaves!
Every Ready 1909, gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 4. Another razor on loan from @twhite . I used it with the shim Tom made from an injector blade to hold the gem blade more securely. Razor is mild, much milder when the blade isn't sitting on the stops which I didn't notice until after the first pass. Once adjusted the blade feel increased quite a bit but was still mild. I don't know if it is me or not but every early Ever Ready razor I've shaved with thus far have been on the mild side. Tommorrow I am going to use my Every Ready which is slightly different from this one and see if they shave different or not.
Fri 8th May. RazoRock 400. SE-Plissoft noir Arko Stick -grated Occams- Enoch Feather Pro [ 8 ] Pitralon Original A/S Lotion. Just completed my 6th consecutive shave with The Enoch, all totally trouble free with a good finish. I know the scent of the Arko is not liked by a few, but the lather is so creamy and a delight to shave with.
This is more a post about a blade than a razor. I loaded a Kai Captain in my RR Hawk V3OC and proceeded to attack 48 hours worth this morning. The sharpness of this blade was unbelievable. This may very well be the sharpest blade I've ever used. I have not used the Feather AC but I've used plenty of Feather DE, the FHS-10 and I've used Kai DE blades numerous times. This blade laughed at all of them. The shave was utterly silent. There was not a "buttering toast" sound I typically experience on 48 hours worth on my average-medium beard density. While being super efficient, it did not feel overly harsh, but I could tell my technique needed to be present and accounted for because I could definitely feel the blade. But the reward was an amazingly close and smooth shave. Wow!
