I always wondered if I should pick up a sample of the splash, as maybe the worrisome ingredient isn't in the AS.

Sounds like an excellent shave, Joe. A few others on here are Boomtown fans as well. I don't have that one, but do enjoy PAA CK6 lathers too.

Another great shave, Tim. You're on the home stretch of that focus now for sure. I like all the St. Petes Gillettes I've tried and sometimes have a hard time telling the difference between the ones that have the same coating (platinum, Teflon, etc.) to be honest.

Sounds like another nice menthol Monday shave, Gary. Good morning, sir. Are the weights similar in the two handles?

    Option 5- Abandon focus?
Option 5a- change blade and use same razor? :)
Sorry to hear about the CNC machine, that is a real bummer.

If you get it going I will try to join in, Jeff. To be honest, I'm not sure if I can ever really make it happen during the day at all. Probably 6pm onwards for me. I am in the Mountain Time zone if that helps, but know that may not work for folks in the East.

Very nice shave and detailed post Evan! With a straight, I just go short of BBS with 2 to 2.5 passes with or without cleanup. I will go for BBS shaves with safeties. I learned that I don't need to go BBS every time out. Besides, it is better for my skin not to do so. I believe every one should shave in manner that works for them. In other words, it's your shave, do it your way. Have a great day Evan!

I wouldn't mind, but zoom doesn't work on my phone. I will record my mug one day prior to shaving. You guys already know what I look like, but my NY accent will be cringeworthy to some of you. Lol!

I wonder if WSP Gaelic Tweed would react the same? It's a nice GIT dupe.

I’ve really enjoyed shaving with the Ronson, and would probably continue, except I’d like to do my best to work through the rest of my rotation. I haven’t shaved for quite some time with my 2011 R41 mounted on a RazoRock SS Barber Pole handle. It was time for a shave with a contemporary safety razor, albeit one that demands total attention to shave technique. This is one razor that is truly unforgiving, and will happily bite if one’s focus wanders during the shave. Stirling Glacial Obsidian Soap and AS Splash salted with 6 drops of M-Bomb along with A&E Post-Shave Serum represented my software selection with the MrEE Hybrid Badger/Boar knotted Knurled Aluminum brush and TSB shave bowl my selected hardware.

This razor always provides a highly efficient, although not necessarily irritation-free shave. And that was definitely the case with this first shave. Fortunately, the shave was bloodless. The MrEE Brush - one of my favorites - whipped up a delightfully heady, rich, thick and shiny lather following my shower and ice water rinse. The smell of Anise permeated the bathroom and the lather felt wonderfully cooling on both mug and noggin. Riding the cap is the technique that always gets me through my R41 shaves, but not always unscathed. The software enhanced the shave experience greatly, but I can never relax when using this razor. The two pass (WTG, ATG) took some time given the short careful strokes I use with this particular shave tool, but the result was worth it.

I've never achieved a pure BBS with this razor, and did not this morning. That’s because I’ve learned that the only way to do so is to over shave around my problem areas. The result is typically a fair bit of irritation given the high efficiency of this razor. Rather than live with the burn around my Adam’s Apple and back of my head, I’ve learned to settle for an extremely close DFS+++. A BBS shave needs to pass the cotton ball test, and the very slight residual roughness doesn’t quite make it. But I’m still very happy with the shave which left me feeling very cool, clean and, while not quite as smooth as I like, refreshed! I do, however, feel the Ronson calling to me. For tomorrow’s shave it’ll be back to the Ronson, but with two stacked DE blades instead of the injector blade which has already delivered stellar shaves.

RAZOR: 2011 Muhle R41 head on RazoRock Barber Pole Handle
    BLADE: Suneko
    PREP: Iced cold water rinse
BRUSH: MrEE Hybrid Badger/Boar Hybrid Knot #007
    SOAP: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
POSTSHAVE: Iced cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and Stirling Glacial Obsidian AS Splash. Finished with A&E Post-Shave Serum.

thank you Jason, the handles do weigh the same.however i sometimes use these handles with my new series open combs.the brit handle has a wider neck and won't fit inside the opening on the new sc baseplate.the u.s one is narrower and fits..

Jason - Thank you. This soap is the CK1 version, still very smooth. I can only imagine what the feel of the CK6 would be like.
I don't know if it would really make that much of a difference in the shave experience overall.
